Is it me or are the boards really quiet at the moment ???

I agree that it has been quiet at times and it seems like that for some weeks now. However, I think that there has also been some judgemental and rude comments on many of the threads and i suspect that this has put people off - it certainly has me. I often lurk on the forum, but dont always post replies as it seems that there are some who only post in order to be rude or upset people and that is not what the forum is about and have to say if it wasnt for the fact that I really appreciate all the ideas and help about being/getting debt free, I often think that I wouldnt bother with the DFW forum cos it seems to be getting really b!!!!y at times.0

Sometimes I wonder if its a turnover thing - for instance, benbenandme, look at your sig - when newbies see your posts, they think that *you're* one of the old timers! There's a turnover, its inevitable, no matter how long it takes to pay off our debts. Its freaky to think of yourself as one of the experienced ones, but there it is!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Hi
I also agree that is has been quite on here lately. The thread i first joined when i entered the forum world has been very slow lately but that is ,in some ways,a good thing as people are getting their problems in order and have some control over their lives again.
As for new posters, yes ,they can be put off from posting due to some small minded people's comments. Another problem new people have is they generally seem,if like me, to follow a popular thread when they first take a look and it may seem a bit cliquey. and they find it hard to post. Bit like starting school mid term.
Can i assure them that is not the case. When i first joined i posted as a newbie ,and i must admit, my first few posts were ignored. I stuck with it though and ,as someone posted later, some posts get lost when people are replying at the same time and have not had a problem since. I have found everybody on here very welcoming and receptive so as benbenandme says. Don't be shy and join in.

I have been thinking the same, over the last couple of weeks, bbam - I thought it might have something to do with the 'holidays' but they are just about over.
Mind you - it still has its moments.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Hi all,
I still lurk when I can but I'm working full time now without internet access (AH!!!!) so I feel a bit lost when I do come on the boards. I keep in touch with my amazing friends I've made on MSE and have never been a great one to offer advice, more a shoulder to cry on, lol
I also hope no one takes this the wrong way but I want to concentenrate on making money, not talking about my 'debt' all the time-It (the living organism that is my debt) had far too much of my energy for far to long so now
I need to live my life without it being my main focus. Does that make sense?
I miss the camraderie of the DFW and would have lost without it when
I needed it most.

I also felt really guilty because I was always having far too much fun and perhaps lowering the tone a bit...:oEmpty pockets never held anyone back, only empty heads and empty hearts can do that -Peale0
