O2 gave Dh a good deal on a 5s 16g this month. 500 mins 500mb unlimited texts £14 a month for 24 months.
I'm still using the 5, have been for years. 16g is just enough as long as you go easy on the music and back up your photos every year.0 -
I have an iPhone 5 as a spare (with an O2 SIM for Priorities), and it seems OK.
I would never buy an iPhone 5 with 8GB - it is too limited and I've no idea why Apple would release such a brain-dead product.0 -

If you are thinking of the iPhone SE, it's not an old design, it's got much better battery life and is at least twice the speed of the old "5", with extra bands, finger print reader, higher definition video recording and a high security processor. It's as different as chalk and cheese compared with the original "5".
However, the OP was asking about obtaining a "new" iPhone 5, they are obsolete (as is the 5S and 5C) and any on the second user market are at the buyers risk, old stock, mediocre battery life, risk of being reported lost/stolen at some stage, poor warranty (if any), etc. The only current iPhones are the SE, 6 and 6S series.0
