Virgin Media retention deals (post your haggling successes)

  • Was paying almost £59 a month after all the discounts dropped off for 200mb and evenings inclusive landline

Cancelled on Monday got a call from retentions on Thursday

Explained was leaving due high price, was asked if I needed evenings calls and I wanted to remove this anyway as it's never used.

Was then offered £30 month if I went down 150mb or £38 for 200mb.

Explained the offer was enticing but would have to come down to 150mb so was not really getting the same package as before. He then offered me one off £30 credit, I said if he can give me £60 credit will accept, but told not possible.

so I accepted then paid for line rental saver which brings deal down to around £25/month (with the £30 credit) for 150mb and weekend phone line.

Although it's not the same deal as before I most definitely don't need evening calls which saved me over £4 and a drop in 50mb is not going to affect me at all,

    most importantly saving around £34/month

The comments on here most helpful in negotiating. Thanks

If I rung today to cancel with them, my bill date is about a week away, could I expect the disconnection/retention department to ring me before then?
Maybe expect is the wrong word, maybe presume?

If you don't cancel you won't get the best deal as you are speaking to a different team. You have to give 30 days notice and can do so in m11 of a 12 month contract.

Reports on HUKD suggest £35/£39 for Full House with Movies (xl tv, sky cinema l, 200mb bb, line rental and weekend calls) is potentially available with a couple of users getting it for this or less including the new V6 box (x2 in some cases).

Details/link from HUKD if anyone is researching retention deals achieved:

Virgin Media retention - Full House Bundle - 200 - got it for £35pm 12 mnth contract [works out £420 for year]

I just wanted to post that following the recent price rise with BT I decided to give Virgin Media a call.

I've received a great deal with them of £15 per month for their Player Bundle (Normally £45/month, but on 'offer' at £29/month on their website).

For this I am getting the basic TV bundle, 50Mbps Broadband, Phone with weekend calls and line rental included.

I'm also getting a £50 initial credit and free activation. It therefore works out that I'm paying on average £10.83 per month for 12 months on a 12 month contract.

Really chuffed and enjoying this Money Saving lark !!

Yes, you can call within the 30 days and remove the cancellation if they don't call/you change your mind.

They called me and made me an offer. We agreed a call back as I needed to check with the other half and then nothing. When I call back the normal retentions team they cannot replicate the deal. Seems I'll have to cancel the cancellation and then re-cancel. Crazy
  • Does that include one of their new tv boxes? V6?

On some threads on this topic some have reported putting an order in with another supplier with a phone number transfer prompts them to get in touch. Others have reported contacting the normal customer remtuons team and them sending a message to Outbound Retentions to get in touch.

Is this a new customer offer or Virgin retention deal as an existing customer, as you mention the BT price rise?

    Thanks
