My advice to people is to search your outside property for any gaps where they might be getting in.
You are never, ever, ever going to stop silverfish getting in by filling holes. Are you sure you're not thinking of rats or squirrels?
You need to identify any sources of damp and keep the subfloor well-ventilated.
Also you need to clean well and often in the kitchen and bathroom areas.0 -
I can't see any possibility of keeping the void dry enough to discourage the little blighters in 90% of homes, I've never lived anywhere that didn't have a few but never enough to bother me, I might see 1 a week.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

I think you're right.
As long as you have a clean and tidy house, and do nothing to encourage them, it is very easy to adopt a 'don't look, don't see' approach to essentially all harmless/natural fauna ...
slugs, though... :mad:0 -

It is getting better since we have mostly fixed the damp issues , but we still get the odd one - it isn't pleasant (also inundated with nocturnal woodlice at the moment!)0 -
We get snails crawling 8ft up the outside but none inside yet, worse this damp "summer".
My daughter bought a starter home, new a few years back that bordered onto a railway bank. They were inundated with many different spiders, kind of gave her a phobia and was the main driver to move.
We may get a woodlouse every few weeks, but they are I'm sure carried in on my clothes after a morning in the garden.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
