Sell your place, move into rented and hope matey hangs on long enough to sell to you.

Oh, and don't believe the EU carp. That won't be the reason.

Its quite possible it was, plenty of nervous nellies on here who think house prices will collapse the morning after a leave vote.

To be honest I didn't have much faith in the buyer from the beginning - he randomly saw that my house was for sale and just knocked on the door and asked to look round, which seemed unorthodox to me. He then asked what it was on for and when I told him he said he'd pay that. He asked if we'd do it just through Solicitors and bypass the estate agents, which I wasn't happy about. He agreed to place his offer through them and it was 20k less than asking price but we haggled him up 15k.

Is the above behaviour shifty or is this something that happens? He wanted to rent the property out.

Because of the above, I was kind of expecting something lame to happen, and of course, it did.

What could have even been in it for him?

We've just had the same happen 3 days before exhange so I really feel for you. Our vendor has said they're willing to wait a few days and see what interest we get in our flat now but it's been up again for 4 days at a very good price and not even a phone call!

Best of luck to you xx

I would actually take it at face value, a few weeks back 'Remain' looked nailed on, now the polls are looking iffy and 'Leave' a real possibility according to the pollsters*.

There are now many nervous people out there believing the scaremongering regards massive house price falls should this happen (of course this could be a self-fulfilling prophecy)

There are multiple posts here about people selling all their shares, not buying a house, delaying until they see the result, dropping their offer by 18% if its leave, etc etc.

Its only a week to go. If it is leave then expect chaos for the next 5 years, since even leaving isnt an easy process as it has a fundamental flaw, it needs a unanimous vote from the other countries before the UK can leave. So what happens if the French say "non"?

*The bookies usually have it right, whatever the polls may say, AFAICS its still firmly in the Remain camp

I had a buyer pull out on exchange day. He spent his 'coming out of Navy' money on a trip to florida for his family. I lost the house I was buying but ended up with a better one. Since that day house prices have risen so I hope they have had to get a mortgage for a lot more to get on the property ladder or they have had to continue in rented.

OP just to make you feel a bit better, I lost my buyer day before exchange was due, for no good reason, he just threw his toys out the pram and cut his own nose off to spite his face. Good news was we still bought the house we wanted, which was also empty (executors sale). They hung on a few weeks for us - I was upfront with them about how we felt awful but had been dreadfully let down by our buyer. And we for a new buyer a couple of weeks after the other chap screwed it ... And we had put it on for 5k more!

The Odds are nowhere near as sharply defined as they were only 10 days ago...

Agreed they have shifted and leave odds have narrowed but remain odds are still much higher.

Currently seeing 1 to 2 on Remain, 13 to 8 Leave. They've been like that a couple of days.

Those of us who have never placed a bet (i.e. me) don't have a clue what that means. Could you explain what that would mean in real terms if I placed a tenner on each result?

That, after the financial meltdown the day after, you total winnings would be worth 4p, which would be unusable, as all the shops will have been burned down...

That, after the instant economic resurgence, your £10 will buy you a French Chateau...

    Or neither :D:D
