HMRC letter

I have just rang the company regarding the letter. Apparently there is somebody call May Smith financially attached to my address. Obviously I'll send all the details that they are asking for. My question now is how can I find out more about this person nd how would I get her removed from my address or whatever she is linked to?
If you have never heard of this person then it is possible that she was the previous owner/tenant of your property.
Can you check with the landlord/letting agent?0 -
i am a bit paranoid, but it sounds a bit fishy ?, if they want details, for someone else; then why send them yours ?
are you 100% certain it is from HRMC and not a scam etc ?
i have got "tax rebate", with plagurised HRMC stamp etc on them emails etc, lots of fraud going around,
is it a legitimate number (that you can reference on google ?) / company etc you have been dealing with ? (baring in mind they could be lieing ?).
sorry/hopefully completely wrong, but thought i would be "the voice" of paranoia.

I've checked my credit report and there's no mention of anyone else on there linked to me. I've been in my home since 1992, they only want details from April 15 to April 16!0

Have you asked your sons if they know this person?
A friend wanting an address for a mobile phone or similar?
if you get nowhere then phone and ask how this person is connected and where they have received the information from as you are concerned about fraud.
What 'company' did the letter come from? Concentrix?0 -
Hi
I an admin on a facebook group called Concentrix Mums which is a support group for people going through the same thing as you are. We are finding that links are as small as someone using your address to check how much car insurance would be in a cheaper area. As long as you have no transactions going between you and the person linked, then there wont be any issues (other than the stress of trying to get so much documents together!) xx 0 -
My sons don't know who she is either. I did actually find a letter I received from a catalogue company refusing credit and her name was May Smith. This was the second letter I'd got. I threw the 1st away thinking it was a 1 off. Do u think if I just sent that in it would be enough?0

Not on its own no, you'll need to send them the other documents they've asked for.0 -

regards,
Not a scam, there have been thousands of these letters issued over the last few years. Most are issued by Concentrix now however HMRC can confirm it is legit if there are any concerns.
They don't want details for someone else, the want the OP to prove that she is single and claiming correctly as something is flagging up to them that there may be someone living with her.0 -
I can't see that the documents requested would necessarily show who (apart from the OP) was living in the house?0

I'd like to see what evidence they have! Why do I have to prove my innocence. Shouldn't they have to prove my guilt, when I've done nothing just living a normal life!!0
