this is an excellent idea - added to the list, very good for supper snacks. He eats quite a lot of white toast, not sure wether this is really a good idea health wise but he just burns it up.

We just did the (now weekly) Aldi big shop (formally we stretched it to at least every 10 days) I didn't think we needed that much apart from Bran Flakes and cat food but I got more pears, oranges and bananas which we seem to be always running out of, also sliced sandwich meat so Errant son has a variety of things to make sandwiches from - I had to get things like garlic sausage and baked ham which I've not bought in years as the emphasis is now on quantity rather than quality again. I also got a nice dinner for OH and myself, lime and ginger chicken and nice yogurts as Errant son wont be back until very late so he is having beans and chicken mushroom pasties for quickness.
    Another £27 spent :(

Do you have any of those Up and Go left? Those would be very filling in between main meals for active young men.

I went to Lidl last week - got scotch eggs 59p for 2, plus lots of nice deli items. Priced the same shop at S and it was 40 % more.

Doing a foodbank shop along with my other shopping, this is the receipt.

Take of the "snack" :o 85p and add, say, haribo 10p or noodles 20p to get 11 items as you need an extra item as fizzy bunny sweet doesn't show.
As you can see I recycled a crispie PAG for £1.80, total without snack but add 10p is 95p, my local foodbank likes what I get. Also gave me a PAG of £1.86 to recycle again & again & again...

They are short of toiletries, so had a £10 Sainsbob giftcard and got 12 basic soaps at 15p each, 10 twin pack toothbrushes at 25p each. 10 x toothpaste at 35p and fially 6 x 5pack of razors 30p each, left me with 40p.
Always slightly annoys me when I see muggles leaving an expensive item in donations at !!!!!! when they could put in 5 value items, but at least they try.

thanks for the list and the ideas - its good to see a shop where very little actual money is spent.
Its a pity there isnt more MOCs about
A question regarding the sweeties please - which ones do you get? I know there is some sort of glitch with them ...

Encouraged by your contributions I took 2 bags to our food bank collection this morning - mostly very nice cashback items like babyfood, the free pop we were getting, popcorn I got a while back but OH refused to eat etc.
So my backstock now has all gone so I need to do little shops like yours

Oddly I noticed three glass bottles in my collection and having a look at these they were sherry
Yes, sherry, a very odd thing to put in a food bank collection.

Mind you our local food bank is having a film festival week, various places have organised various events so maybe a raffle or bottle tombola is being organised for one of these events ...

Sadly all of the Up and Go they Up and Went :)
When he went off to Kent last summer he took a goodly supply. Afterwards assuming he would never be back last winter quite a few Up and Go went into the food bank collection and some into the homeless shelter shoe box collection until they were all gone.
Our Sainsbobs sold off quite a few flavours in their clearance section but mostly I only bought things from the clearance section if it was something we would eat ourselves or could be useful in the food bank eg a couple of tins of Irish stew for 15p each.
I was gradually down sizing the stock piles as there was just 2 of us and no point in keeping vast supplies of everything.
Then Mr !!!!!! kindly had some good MOCs for baby food and soup in the magazine so I was doing some good MOC shops - the baby food all went into the food bank and gradually the soup was being donated to but fortunately I still had a good stockpile when Errant son made a re-appearance
So bread and soup has been the staple supper and lunch menu item and some soup has gone into casseroles as well
