Oh Sue....how awful for you. You couldn't bring the thread down I promise:A

Sorry to hear about your meltdown but it's understandable. I think most full time carers go through this in one form or another. You just get to the end of your tether at times. It doesn't change the fact that you love one another, it just signals that you need a break.

Did you ever get anywhere with some support?

I had a Carers Assessment from a Social Worker from Social Services. They could offer me some courses to attend, provide a night away in a hotel (long waiting list, no one to look after Mum) and 5 hours per week of someone to sit with Mum (not do anything for her) to give me a break, can be taken in one go or split. However Mum has refused, doesn't want anyone to come and sit with her.
SS can't make her accept, so all they can do is write a report saying they think I need more support for myself through Mental Health Services, as I am a service user. However useless Locum GP who I saw last week, said he doubted they would be able to help me in any way.

Just tried the Walkers website and I am getting a white page with a very strange message as well. Looks like it's broken at the moment.

    Afternoon all

Just had the first of a the annual series of discussions with sky :(

    we are paying now
    TV box sets £27.19
    Fibre unlimited £10
    line rental £10
    total £44.59

    after July
    TV £38
    Fibre £20
    line rental £18.99
    total £76.99

annoying having to pay any line rental when we rarely use the land line for any calls - only used twice this year.
Fibre, this is our first year and it is not brilliant, still very slow, 10 mb at best and we get a lot of line droppage
Never use the box sets but to get documentaries and history we have to have it as we have a HD TV

so we asked to be put through to customer retentions and after some discussion was offered 33% off the Tv and £5 off the fibre. They are keen to give you total prices but you need to ask for price breakdowns
    so now
    TV box set £25.46
    fibre unlimited £15
    line rental £18.99
    total £55.43

still more than £10 more than we are paying.
I asked her to save the quotes and I would get back to them, not sure how far more I can push things.
Last year it took me 4 phone calls to get the right price and even then it was not actioned on the account so I had some credits to make up for the problems we had

I suppose I am hoping for a bill under £50 but I think that might be too much to hope for

First rule of dealing with Sky and Virgin - cancel.
    Second rule, see above!

To get the best deal from either, put in your 30 days notice. With Sky, in all likelihood within minutes/hours you will have offers on your account (and service screen on your Sky box). 60% off TV seems to be regularly reported. You will likely get other offers by email and in the mail.

You have to be brave by putting in your cancellation otherwise their system does not give the operative the option to offer the best deals. I had box sets - I went through with the cancellation and then a few days later went on chat and was immediately offered 75% off and moments later £100 account credit (this was in March). There are reports on the Retentions thread on here and elsewhere what can be achieved if you get the right person (after cancelling!).

If they don't play ball and you worry about losing your services, you can always cancel your cancellation.

    Yes I have:)

I returned a tray of geraniums to a garden centre today. They had blight:eek:

I'd already planted half of them before I realised. Unsure whether to take them back out now:o

Where's Naebbirac when you need her?:rotfl:

They were exchanged without a problem:)

Hiya TM (and everyone else of course:D)
I'm in my usual holiday spot :D 84 degrees today, gentle breeze, blue skies with the odd white fluffy cloud, waves lapping on the beach below the balcony, fresh picked bananas in the fruit bowl, idyllic and I love it. Pics available if anyone is interested?
Regarding your geraniums TM, I'd get rid of them in the bin. Not worth risking contamination that may possibly affect the other plants.
Hope all are well. Just going to have a read and catch up.

    Morning

Ending today Meat free Quorn 4 for £6.00
    (£1.79/1.90 each)

    http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/asda/bundle/852818_2057715.html

A quick glance and I can’t see any really good comparisons, some 3 for £5.00 offers in Tesco and Waitrose but would mean buying in 12s for small APG.

Best I can see are the Chicken Style Pieces showing at £1.50 in Sainsbobs (£7.60 v £6.00) and

    Meat Free Lasagne £1.55 in :( Morries (£7.60 v £6.20)

    Morning folks :D

Got a busy day ahead. Selected images for our end of degree show, they are being printed A0 which is quite scary as i've never had anything printed so big. I remember having palpations when my firs A3 print came out the printer :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Got to print my specialist portfolio as well.

Edit: I take it you'll all be coming to the show? :D
Something unexpected happened which made me smile and still continues to make me smile.
