Again, thanks for the Perfectly probably non-Imperfect (as I can tell no difference whatsoever) apples at 60p for 14 as I managed to find some bags in one of my Ts yesterday. I decided to walk to the big city centre store, as the other 24 hour one in the other direction is smaller and unlikely to have them. I found some and they were gala apples again (are they always gala apples or do they change and are they always this price?) but I needed some gala apples this time so bought two bags. I'm glad I did - I happened to be near the same T earlier today (wasn't planned but thought I'd walk to the Poundstretcher this time as I only discovered them last night) and the apples in the T were now "temporarily" OOS: they always are "temporarily", giving no clue as to whether they will ever return. So just about managed to visit whilst they were still there yesterday - I doubt I would have found just 2 bags left on the shelf by today had I not bought my two yesterday.
Again, we had all types of weather too - someone rang me asking me to pick them up as it was snowing:eek: - me, five miles away, didn't have any snow though it was a bit rainy. Turned out to be a false alarm and they managed to get back no problem (not sure how they expected my car to be able to get through to pick them up if the roads really were covered in snow). I took my umbrella with me later on when I walked into the city centre but probably made myself look idiotic as I didn't need to put it up at all.0 -
Forgotten my manners. Good evening all.
Snap, my best wishes to your sister. x
Mhoc, I'd get in dozens of 15p cans of rice pudding from T or A or similar, my DGD aged 8 and thin as a lath can often eat almost a whole one after a busy day, so I'd assume a young man might manage two cans at a time.
Things are moving fast for DD, the letting agent has been, photos are done and they reckon she'll get 8-900 pcm no problem, as it's 'well above average' (their words) and also in one of their sought-after areas. Tonight I was told to fill my freezer from hers, bit early for that yet, but I will do it a bit nearer the time.“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0 -
We had to catch a school bus as school was about 3 miles from home.
My primary school was in Charlwood (Surrey) & we lived in Lowfield Heath (now flattened for Gatwick Airport expansion)
So I started school at age 5 like you do.
First week, I went to loo during class after dinner, across the playground.
On returning I went through cloakroom & decided I was going home..
So I did.
I walked alone along a road with out pavements past Gatwick runway.
Half way home...
Then a friendly old man appeared & insisted on walking with me
On I marched - then suddenly the headmaster in his Rover car pulled up with my older sister.
I was taken back to school & shaken by my teacher Miss Crampion & then made to walk around playground as it was afternoon break time with my sister in case I did it again

Did anyone else read the Tom Hardy story where he chased a young lad who had come of a motor bike after smashing into a car. He took chase and made a citizens arrest.
Can you imagine the look on that young lads face looking up to see Solomon from Peaky Blinders:rotfl:To do is to be. Rousseau

Can you please think back to how old you were when you FIRST started walking to school on your own. How far it was and whether it was rural or in a built up area.
Much appreciated:)
I was about 6 but my school was at the end of the road.
My children didnt walk to school until they were in year 6 of primary school, I was petrified that something would happen to them, I only let them when there were about 6 children altogether in our road, and they all walked together.0 -

I don't know about the price, but have just checked for you and my recent bags are Braeburns (10 in a bag for 60p).

In Shropshire I came across the scheme known as the 'walking bus' - basically it has a set route and collects children along that route, walking them all safely to and from school together. Parents in high-vis jackets are at the front and back, and they use a rota system which ensures it is adequately 'staffed' at all times.
Absolutely brilliant idea in towns.“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0 -

I pass a walking bus of little children on my way into work.

Yes, I think you're right (though I've not gone to the fridge to check lol:rotfl:) as it was Farmfoods 14 pack at £1 several months back that probably entered my mind and corrupted the data:D there when I meant to write "10". The 10 pack at 60p are, of course, better price per apple (though they are I think equivalent to 'fun' size, though you only consume one apple of any specific variety a day and each time you have an apple, you use a full apple). Glad there are other varieties of apple - if I manage to time it right, I could end up with several different varieties available to me that I need, of cheap apples, by still having many of the first variety in the fridge for some weeks whilst the other variety becomes stocked etc.
I guess I ought to explain - sorry for my lateness and not being here much of late - just too much else going on - a new bank account opened to get the switch money (which is now more than the interest on other accounts even if the account switched to gives no interest at all - and will therefore be promptly shut and moved just as soon as I can get the money). Anyway, too many new accounts and having to sort out transfers around this time. The M list is I think dying a slow death at the moment - I will go out at some point but just don't know when (probably sometime in June at the moment) - I was in just one store late last week to try to give me a further week, though it was incomplete information - but prices will be changing again tomorrow. I'm just not bothering much with it at the moment and although I had some Easter clearance items last week, they weren't any good (small bars of chocolate at 30p prices:eek:) - I suspect anything any good, like the big Easter eggs would either have been removed from the shelves or gone completely early last week. I'll eventually get through what I've got - as I'm just not doing much of it at all - and then I'll use online to try to update some of it - I won't do that until at least the middle of next week I suspect - probably wonder why I haven't used online all along (it's because I like to see the items are instore) and then just try to get closer to whatever next time I happen to do a mini-tour again. I haven't abandoned the list totally yet but I'm just putting it aside a lot at the moment.0
