One problem Errant son had was that his previous landord was dragging his heels about returning his deposit. He was ringing almost daily and the letting agency would take phone numbers and promise to return calls when they had been in touch with the landord but they never did.
It was coming up to the 2 month mark so I thought it might be time to write an official letter.
I suggested to Errant son to ask his big sister as she is our resident expert in all matters regarding rentals. So he messaged her amd asked how to to write the said letter. She aked for phone numbers and all of the details.
That was on Thursday. She rang the letting agency a couple of times that afternoon and I think completley lost her rag with them.
By Friday the deposit minus £50 was back in Errant sons account :rotfl:

On the job hunt front Errant son went off on Thursday afternoon to mid wales, stayed overnight and had his interview on Friday. He was against one other candidate and it was the other chap that got the job mainly because he was local to the area.
At least they told Errant son straight away and didn't leave him hanging on over the weekend.
But it turned out that the job was only a short term contract anyway, just 6 months. We are convinced that this was not mentioned anywhere in the job description.
On the plus side his details were passed along to the other Center in Wales who have a similar vacancy. He sent them his CV etc and they were in touch on Sunday night so he is hopeful of getting an interview at least. This place is only 90 mins away so much easier to slot in.
Also he had an offer of an interview from a place in Scotland but reading the requirements this one was very much a classroom based teaching job. He has an interview in Kent one day this week and Scotland was the next day, 10 hours drive away, so it wasn't even possible to do both interviews so he has turned down Scotland.

This morning he has been sorting out paperwork, updating his address for various places and booked his medical. He is still going through the process of applying for the army as his back up plan.

And nothing new seems to be coming up on the specialist job website so far so it could beca long week unless he starts sawing wood again in his van :)

Does anyone have any suggestions as to a birthday present for a lad turning 18?
He's not interested in much, always gets money/gc's and usually spends it on clothes.
He's not interested in jewellery either.

I wanted to get him something a bit special for his 18th but might have to be money again :o

Fuzzy...whats the budget for this present?

Is he in to cars...maybe a nice keyring...or indeed if he's not driving yet a first lesson pack...

Or if the budget is very good maybe a driving experience...mhoc usually finds some good groupon vouchers for these things or I think its virgin experience days....all sorts of things from karting to off roading to supercars....all budget dependant!

Failing that maybe a nice pen if you want to go down the keepsake route.

I know when DS turned 18 he did ask everyone and anyone for a cash contribution...but only because he wanted a watch,so it is worth asking if there is something he's thinking of putting the money towards...it's actually quite surprising how many can actually come up with a "significant" gift they might like.

Another thought might be a nice leather wallet....or maybe an electric shaver
