COS free coffee at ToscoMet my middle sister today, still in good spirits and not daunted by what is to come.
Last week she had her pre op interview which went on forever, apparently they scrutinise your past medical history in every detail and sister has quite a lot of past history having done the ankle twice and also the replacement hip operation last year.
Next week she goes for the blue dye that goes into her lymph glands and then there is the op on the 19th - its stage 1 and 17mm in size so it looks like it was caught very early.
Apparently they do it as a day case and you then get sent home - even if you have drains put in - quite shocking really as the anethetic can be in your system for days so you dont know what your pain level is going to be.
2 weeks later she gets the results and then there is 5 weeks of daily radiotherapy if all has gone to plan.
In the meantime she has to go and get an exemption prescription or suchlike from the docs as you are then on the magic medicine for life
She is taking it very much matter of fact and is still determined that she will be on a hen do to Dublin at the end of May and they are planning a holiday in a cottage in August.
Hope everything works out good for her , for the exemption thing you get the form from the docs, fill it in and they then send off as just done mine , it was back within a week:T
I already had a prepayment and they refunded me the money back from that too as it ran till Dec:T:T:TSealed pot challenge number 003 £350 for 2015, 2016 £400 Actual£345, £400 for 2017 Actual £500:T:T £770 for 2018 £1295 for 2019:j:j spc number 22 £1,457Stopped Smoking 22/01/15:D:D::dance::dance:- 5 st 1 1/2lb :dance::dance:0 -
Errant son is away, hence the atmosphere of serenity and calm here
He did a couple of hours struggling with his expenses forms from February yesterday morning whilst also covering the living room with paperwork and then finally set off for Birmingham only 45 mins late.
Eldest son was not amused.
He was meeting Eldest son in Ikea to collect furniture and then Errant son helped them move as he has a big van.
Errant son has had another reply to the flurry of job applications last week, this time the offer of an interview from a centre - not even exactly sure where this place is, possibly kent but its in the midst of nowhere. I have to go and figure this out for logistical purposes.
He has an interview next week, a week Friday in mid wales but he goes across on Thursday afternoon and he is staying overnight.
This new interview is the following week.
Glad things are improving for him, i wish him good luck.

Things seem to be coming together for all the family mhoc....hopefully you will be in for a less rocky ride in the coming months and you can concentrate on your sister.
is this the forever rental for DS and his GF?
This is a really good question.
GF lived in a small town about 45 mins north of us so when Eldest son was at his base in Telford it was about about 90 mins for him to shuttle back and to so not too bad. It was perfect, she could walk to work and it was a really pretty converted flat in the older part of town, quite cottage like. The town was very chic and hip and perfect for young trend settersbeing on the very outskirts of Manchester. It also had the advantage of being close to Manchester airport - GF travelled a bit for work and also handy for when he relatives or friends came over, very sociable couple.
Then Eldest son retraded and moved bases and GF was getting stale with her job so they moved to Brum.
They lived in quite a village like bit of Brum, within 20 min walk of the city centre plus again they had Birmingham airport close by. Brum apparently has a huge population of under 40s so in theory it should suited them perfectly with all of the bars, shops, cafes and resurants. The flat was modern though and I think they missed the first flat and they had endless unresolved problems with the letting agency so they never quite bonded with it. I suppose if Eldest son had got a Midlands posting they would have moved to another place but slightly further out.
So now they are in East Anglia and the transfer is going to be relatively easy for GF but it might take longer for Eldest son as he has not got a proper start date yet for the new base. In the meantime he is finishing his course in Bristol.
The cottage is absolutely lovely, formally the lodge house at the bottom of a drive way to a big house, all on one level with a little garden and shed, 2 bedrooms, modern kitchen, a back and a front door (having your own front door is very important when you are letting) and it has a biomass boiler so GF can have all of the heat she likes
Its a bit isolated, being outside the village but I think they will soon make new friends through work and start a new social circle and I imagine that people living around there are always doing long drives to and from work and for social life.
The airport is much further away so this might be an issue especially for work but I think GF is not going to be doing so much travelling as previously.
As to whether it will be the forever place its difficult to say. The new base will be for 4 years so East Anglia is where they will be. I suppose if something came up in Bury St Edmonds itself with car parking for 2 cars then they would move.
The isolation might be more of an issue in winter but at least they have somewhere to settle into for now
Eldest child and her new OH only live 2 hours away from the new cottage and the couples get on really well so I am hoping that they will see lots of each other over the summer“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
and on the subject of shopping I went to Poundland today and on the cosmetics section they had loads of max factor - mainly lip products and also loads of nail inc nailvarnishes in various colours
I managed to find a foundation - I've been looking forever and never found one in Poundland before
Sleek bare skin foundation light coverage Henna 385
also in a snazzy white bottle
nails inc caviar base coat
so I checked the prices on various website and these are worth between £10 and £15 :T - so a nice bit of money saving.
This was Stafford but its worth popping into any poundland you are passing just incase“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
I may be missing the point a bit here but with the rechargeable toothbrushes you don't need a stock of them,it's not like everyone needs their own handle its just separate heads that are needed.(so really it's just a case of looking out for heads when they are on offer)
When you buy the initial brush it usually comes with some spare heads, sometimes 2 sometimes 4 ....thats usually enough for everyone to have their own head.
We don't have a oral B at home, but have a colgate pro with 3 heads so each of us has our own brush but we use the collective handle.
DS has a Oral B which is something fancy for when he's at Uni but only because we were sent it to trial last year.
Not used them yet but apparently the Lidl ones are compatible with Oral B, picked up 8 for £3.99. Problem is we currently have 4 waiting to be used and they are originals, there is only two of us so it will be a while before we try them lolWhat is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
I also had a look at the new Primark
Normally Primark drives me bats as the only sizes they stock are 6 and 8
but I thought I would work a new strategy so I went and hunted down any summery tops (but not plain t shirts or vests as I don't need those) in size 14, 16 or even size 18.
I think I managed to find 6 (yes 6 in the entire store) and of these I narrowed it down to 2 - a sleeveless frilly blouse with blue birds on - I have quite a few similar but these roll down into tiny rolls and slot into very small spaces in cases very nicely and a flowery top with criss cross backs - £10 for 2 so very pleased with that and its also a spur to see what I can ebay or cull :T“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0
