My DD and her fianc! were told they would need a £90,000 deposit here, so they upped sticks and moved to Yorkshire, currently staying with his mum and step dad (who are as mad as us) and saving the £8000 they will need to cover the deposit and fees on a good sized 3 bed house with garden that they will be able to afford up there.

It is ridiculous, we could flog what we have here and buy two three bed houses in Yorkshire and have enough money left to live on for quite a while.

my dd has saved over 50k but its not enough !!!

It is utterly crazy when the only way the kids can buy a house is to move 200 miles!

And they both got jobs easily too.

Just sent a rant to Nationwide which I know wont do any good but I still thought it needed saying anyway.

On Friday I did a transfer from the joint current into the holding account (we get paid every 28 days so our pay day is rarely inline with the 1st of the month bills so the money goes and sits and earns a pittance while it waits for bills day)
When I checked the account I can see it going out on the 7th but it did not actually arrive until April 10th so where has it been for 3 days then, wondering around in cyber space

I also had a missed call this morning from Nationwide, probably a sales call but it still freaked me out because the 1st thing you think of is that you have been hacked

Eldest child and her new Oh have also been looking at places to live. The one they looked at last has 2 bedrooms although one is a box room - the extra bedroom is adding on about £50k above the average cost of one bedrooms in the area.
What the vendor is asking for it is what both my dads and his neighbours houses sold for together - 2 three bedroom 1970s semi detatched houses with big gardens and garages in a nice bit of Staffordshire costing the same as one 1950s ex local authority maisonette with 2 bedrooms an hour outside London

Actually I think its that I am just daft - I have wasted well over an hour - and had my DH also looking - searching for the charger for my hedge trimmer and my Karcher window cleaner ! They WERE in my little utility room but I had a big clear up in there a few weeks back and moved a lot of stuff around - and now I can't find them. Last week I was convinced I had run out of cooking oil and balsamic vinegar and bought 2 big bottles of each - and then found the stock of both which I had put in a different place ! I still can't find the washer or charger - common sense tells me they must be in the house not garage or shed as they are electrical and they must be somewhere easy to access.

Oh dear. So frustrating when that happens. I am slowly sorting my study simply because I have mislaid some family papers... :(

I now have a label maker and label every charger/plug. Not only does it make it easy to unplug if there are several plugs in an extension lead or whatever but when they become detached I know what they are. Too often in the past I had little piles of electrical cables with no indication as to what they were...

I'm in bed with my 'fever' & snotty cold :o

Can I ask how one goes about selling picture framing equipment and stock?
Dad will never be able to use it again, it's gathering dust & someone, somewhere, who needs a new job could set themselves up in an spare room or outbuilding & be successful :)

Hope you soon feel better snap x
Sorry no idea about the framing equipment :(
