    afternoon all

AWOL most of the day :D

Eldest son and his GF stayed last night - I thought this was really very nice, having seen them mostly at the weekend I thought they would be sick of the sight of us :D Instead they choose to come and see us.
GF went off on the train to see a friend and came back later.
Eldest son had pasta bake and cheesy garlic bread with us, very chatty and relaxed, lots of discussion about the new place and it was gone midnight before anyone sloped off to bed.
Then they had a lie in this morning woken only by vague bangings at bedroom window which they thought was a demanding cat who needed to be ignored.
(it wasn't a cat it was the window cleaner - yes I was in the shower again, fortunately very steamed up :rotfl:)
They had home made porridge and then eventually got themselves sorted and ready and went off to the Lake District via GFs old workplace to see various mates

    All very lovely :T

I really love these 2 to bits, OK that is a mushy thing to admit but it needed saying. I think we are going to be driving to and from East Anglia a lot when they move

pleased all went well over the weekend and how wonderful for the young ones to choose to stay with you for another night.:)
...so they may be moving to my neck of the woods? saying that East Anglia is a large area..:D

Quickly sneaking on at work because I've had a message off AJ in a panic.

Isla Louise was born yesterday at 7.26am 6lb 10oz and is beautiful. Mum and baby both doing great and are hoping to come home this afternoon.

Sorry but had two nights without sleep and a day full of adrenaline so no time to post, I messaged those I have on fb which is why AJ got confused ...... so delighted.

    Many congratulations :T:T:T

...so they may be moving to my neck of the woods? saying that East Anglia is a large area..:D

Yes I am recruiting people to drop off random food parcels at their back door so they know we are still thinking of them and also they are being spied upon so they cant get up to any mischief :rotfl:

Eldest son put in for his next posting last year but there was some annoying mix up so he had to put it in again and then because everything else was already assigned he got what was left which was East Anglia.
There was much tears and sobbing and hand wrangling. There are numerous bases in and around the west mids and they had high hopes of getting one of those. That way GF could continue with her new job, the flat they only moved to last October was far from perfect but they could have stayed another 6 months and given themselves a bit of breathing space. Birmingham hadnt really suited them either but again sometimes a place has to grow on you.

So GF had to start job hunting again, having had her new job only 6 months. Very quickly she got a job with an international software company based in Cambridge and she has a start date.
Eldest son can move bases earlier than his given date
They have been flat/house hunting again - ideally looking for somewhere between Cambridge and eldest sons new base so the commute is not to much for either of them.
They were quite keen on Bury St Edmunds - its similar, a market town, to where GF lived for several years in Cheshire. But rents were vast, I suppose its still within commuter distance and nowhere seemed to have spaces for 2 cars

I dont want to jinx anything but they seem to be sorted out :T

Hopefully there will be social life and sports facilities on base so they can start making friends and connections - I worry about them being so far away from their mates - mainly Cheshire and Manchester.

The closest to them is eldest child and her OH in St A which seems to be about 2 hours away so not too far for exchanging weekends - the 2 couples get on fabulously

When I've had similar, I've taken the whole lot to a laundrette service wash to start!

Enjoy having him home, I would ask if he wants to take a shower before the washing machine goes on while there is some hot water, or some other excuse. Better than implying he stinks!

but he does - must be Sunday since the last shower

At least he has removed the big purple bucket of unwashed grubby saucepans from the porch and scrubbed them
