Morning all - very glad the wind has stopped, all the banging around leaves me an emotional wreck :D
So this morning I am wide awake at 7 or at least my head is, the rest of me is totally shattered even though I thought I had a good nights sleep.

A big branch came down across the road yesterday afternoon so we went and rescued as much as we could, OH was hack sawing away at the side bits until he had a chunk that was manageable enough to drag across the road and into the garden and I was in charge of stick collection. My hands were like chunks of ice afterwards.
So at the weekend we will be the awful people ruining the quiet by chain sawing wood into fire sized chunks :rotfl:

Next door one side came back late and we had a parcel for her the postie had mis delivered. She said, tell me the awful news, how many fence panels have we lost? Actually it was only the very end panel that would have got the full force of the wind going across the fields.

Neighbour on the other side - well its difficult to tell. We don't have a full view of his garden thankfully but he has a storage issue - some people have huge barns to store things in but he instead uses the garden. Its very difficult to tell what is messy anyway and what damage the wind might have done ...He has one of those giant plastic storage boxes and this has disassembled itself, the laundry whirly gig is on its side but the greenhouse still seems in tact.

I am expecting a parcel this morning which hopefully its going to come with the postie and not the van but either way I have to stay within ear shot incase either arrives - otherwise the parcel gets taken back to base and not redelivered until Tuesday :(

So in the meantime I have to do general tidying around which is mildly annoyed as I need to get stuck in again.
Yesterday afternoon I had a major cull again. Under the bed are three giant picnic basket type baskets which for decades I've filled with assorted odds and ends. I've had a few attempts at sorting and emptying them out recently but nothing too serious.
But I'd come to realised I was not emotional attached to anything in those baskets whatsoever so yesterday they were upended. Some odds and ends went into the Christmas shoe box collections including 2 complete sets of pencil crayons, some nice toiletries for the food bank collection, some paper waste and I filled 3 very full wine boxes of bric a brac for various charity shops.
Only about half a basket of things were saved eg I've got a rotating spice rack still new in a box which I might try to ebay or I might just donate yet.
so now I have 2 completely empty baskets and the under the bed dust bunnies have been banished as well :D

I am going to do a bit more today, mainly bottom of the wardrobe tidying as I've run out of wine boxes and plastic bags now and I don't really want huge mounds of stuff on the dining room table awaiting another sort out ...

keeping busy and not leaving any thinking time

Today is Errants sons 25th birthday

I had a peak at his FB page this morning and it seems he has been away for 3 days, working I imagine. Not that I expected to hear from him anyway.

I did message him several times earlier this month including the issue with him needing our NI numbers and dates of driving tests. Mostly I get ignored but at least we are communicating in a fashion even if its mostly one sided.

I had heard 3rd hand that he was moving out of his flat - this is generally how we get to know things now. He talks or messages Eldest son knowing that he will pass things along eventually to eldest child who will then pass things along to us if its things we need to know about.
Afterwards I messaged Errant son to ask why he was not just extending his flat lease and to ask if he had rented storage space as he has quite a lot of furniture. He went down with 2 car loads last summer so goodness knows how much stuff he has accumulated now.

Earlier in the month Errant son was in Bristol and found a Jack Monroe cookbook in a charity shop so he sent me a message about it and I asked him what he wanted for his birthday but he said he didn't know. But last week I got his birthday things parcelled up - I was clueless as usual but it included a base layer and an insulated picnic rucksac plus 2 groupon vouchers - one for a steak and beer/wine meal at a pub close to him and one for a couple of games at a bowling alley nearby.
I messaged Errant son to check the address - technically I've never been told this, it was on a letter from the insurance company which is the only way I know it. I only got to find out he was flat moving last August by accident.

So Errant son said the address was correct and that he was moving out today February 24th which would be 6 months from the move in date. So I sent the parcel down early and it arrived last Friday. I know he got it and I did say he could open it as I thought he might use the vouchers last weekend but I've not heard anything since that message.

So today he is 25, he is moving out of his flat having been away for 3 days working this week.

He told eldest son he is going to be living in his van for the time being, however long that is.

Hence the need for me to keep busy today

Early start for me. Mum fell out of bed at 6.20 am so I had a call from the lifeline. Paramedics got her up and it seems only damage is a bruised foot. Carers had adjusted her bed last night when they have been told not to!! I dont like to complain as she does get 4 times a day care and doesnt pay so is really lucky. At work now

    Good morning all....

A gentle hug to mhoc....I always think childrens birthdays are special to their mums(afterall we had a big part to play in the actual event)....so even though you can't celebrate in the style you would like with a visit and exchange of gifts...at least take a moment to celebrate the fact ...once you've done your sorting out....a cup of tea and a cake might be in order x

The weekend for me started last night.....DS is home...arriving much later than anticipated because of very slow traffic... still asleep this morning after being fed last night....and needing taking back on Sunday....but for at least tomorrow we can spoil him!

    Have a lovely day all.x
