He is a LL with a portfolio, I don't think they want to mention moving to him as they are only on a rolling contract with months notice.

It is mainly the school catchment that is causing the problem which I as i said in the back of their minds now another year and a half wait might not be a bad thing, they have waited so long now anyway. It's a shame the cheaper properties are in the catchment areas of schools needing improvement according to OFSTED. :(

Quite right not to mention looking or moving to the LL then.....

How bad are the other schools...again when a school has a bad report there is lots of input from the powers that be to turn it round so actually if they dont need the school yet then they could be looking at the cheaper area with a view to moving now whilst the prices are that little bit lower.
Just because a school needs improvement does not mean its bad ...the way I have always looked at it was if its bad it can only improve ...if its excelling then its got a long way to go to maintain...

catchment areas are not set in stone either....and can change depending on demand for places...both decreasing and indeed increasing so worth looking nearby.

and my other thought has always been that yes kids learn at school but those that do well get the stimulation from other things too like their hobbies, families etc.

A bad school catchment area is not always one to be avoided...unless there are specific issues that make it untenable to your DD....

They originally had a years contract but they didn't renew for a long term again as they wanted to start looking so it will be easier for them with just the one months notice but obviously they didn't think it would take so long.

I think DD has her heart set on sending Teeny to the school they are in catchment for now, it is Ofsted outstanding so I don't think she is going to be swayed on this one. And Teeny is already at the nursery there. As I said earlier they were nearly tempted by the shared ownership house but in the end after filling the forms in and submitting to accept they slept on it and decided it was not the right decision so pulled out before paying any fees.

Really appreciate your input LEJC thank you xx

you would have thought that with it being Hovis every stray receipt would have Hovis on it but sadly not

Also after you have claimed your free loaf from COS or Q clcikcnsappy the follow up offer is 50p off a Hovis so that makes it about 60p after cashback which is a quite good offer.

10p loaves around here are as rare as the dove mini travel bags so all our bread is full price :)

I am so depressed about the entire pension thing ... so much money I will never see ...

And I am certain that the age will increase again at least once so I don't expect to see a state pension until 68 or even 69.

Also annoyed that because of the area I live in I wont get a free bus pass yet a few miles down the road across the border into wales they get them at 60 :(

Same here, I can't go on the march on 21st but Iv written to my MP, just hoping they take notice. The groups on FB are very good and there's some knowledgeable peeps about.

Tiny...I hope they get something...and I hope you dont think I've been challenging you this afternoon....its just sometimes when you look for a property and have been doing so for a long time, you kind of focus in on things that become "be all and end all"deal breakers...and sometimes you end up going round in the same circle.

Occasionally a step back from it and a rejig of your search area and criteria can suddenly flag up something that you previously hadnt noticed or overlooked....just because it was outside of the comfort zone.

The 2nd rental we bought was on a development that historically I hated for no apparent reason other than...hear say.
We even looked at the development many years ago when it was new build and at the time it wasnt what we were looking for.
When we were looking for the rental we must have viewed 40 properties with the EA ....who patiently took us round everything that we thought ticked our boxes.....he then suggested having a look at one on this development....and I only went because I was following OH that afternoon...

on paper it was nothing like we wanted...when we viewed it suddenly transformed into something we could do something with.....it needed a little work but thats what was putting others off but it meant we could do it our way.

3 years on and out of all the ones we have now...apart from the inherited family home... the one that I didn't want to go and see is actually my favourite...and if I ever had to choose one to live in it would be there.
