a quick question please, apologies I know this is a sensitive subject so put me on ignore.

Why are some people given chemotherapy drugs through a drip and some by tablets?
I've only just realised that some people have chemotherapy drugs for other non cancer related condition. 2 people I know have these and I think they have the same non cancer condition but one is getting tablets and one is getting them via a drip.

Not too sure but I'm sure the treatment plan would depend on the type and severity of the illness you have.

Luckily I only had 6 months of tablets to mop up any left over bowl cancer as I was dreading the permanent line they put in your arm or chest.

:o I don't know - My Dad is on tablets as he has blood cancer :)

My FiL is on tablets and he has bone marrow cancer, he also has blood transfusions.

I would say it is not expected to be curative so that could be the difference? Although, looking at NGs post it looks like I could be wrong on that.

Also, IV has to be given in hospital? Maybe using tablets also avoids a stay in hospital for the more vulnerable to infection?

Thank you for all your kind words and support. I was diagnosed a few months ago, but unfortunately my cancer had already spread to my lymph nodes and metastasised to my bones. So too late for surgery or to "cure"
    Thank you all again

Google would suggest IV is more concentrated but pills are more regular slow release doses and it's dependent on type and severity as NG suggests.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Good morning Elite :hello:

Dreary overcast day here and another NSD for me. I just can't be bothered to venture ouT. I've got Coach Trip on record and need to watch 3 episodes. Also a few other programmes to watch and delete.

I'm going to have to resort to taking Fybrogel this morning  and at bedtime I think. Since stuffing myself with that takeaway, I haven't been  sorry if that's TMI :o. Consequently I have that sticky sluggish feeling going on :o

    Ok, change of subject ...................

Wendyak, hope you're ok, I've been looking out for you, special hugs to you and DH drop me a line when you get a spare minute xx

Hugs to the poorlies and those feeling down, you're in my thoughts xx

Off to begin my viewing session , see you later everyone xx
There's no place like home :)

Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.

Hugs and healing thoughts are always going your way.

How is everyone getting on with their New years resolutions or has it all gone by the wayside now ....

Part of my list was to make sure I put at least one large Aldi sized bagforlife into the food bank trolley each month so on Saturday I gathered together everything that was loitering in smaller bags under the dining room table which looked quite a bit but it barely filled the Aldi bag.
I think I may need to be more pro active and set aside scheduled time one morning during the first week of every month to gather enough tins and packets etc together
We cant really reply on the generosity of COS and the odd MOC to have enough to fill a bag but if there are lots of freebies in a month then I can fill a 2nd bag.

The decluttering is not going well either, I've only got 2 things in the charity bag to take in today but my excuse is that we were away for nearly 2 weeks so I will just have to make more of an effort next month ...

Also one I didn't officially add to my list - apart from the 2 free bags Crosscountry gave me it is now an entire month since I've eaten crisps :j
It was quite a serious addiction, 2 of the little ones from multibags each day or half of a big bag shared with OH so in view of the fat and salt content I had to go cold turkey. I am still getting cravings but fortunately I don't have people eating crisps around me so its manageable. I've been apple munching instead so that's helped with the urge to snack.
OH is still biscuit munching so my attempt at self control has had no influence on him
And no difference in the weight but that might have been because of the hols :rotfl:

    Sorry to hear that JTS.

We can't 'cure' either I'm afraid, but can be there for the times you want/need to rant at anyone other than your nearest and dearest. Take care.

Sounds like you're doing pretty well mhoc. I decided my NYR would be not to stress about the things I haven't done each month but to just do what I can when I can. I'm sure the food banks will be grateful for one large bag, one small bag or one tin. Everything helps someone. :A
