The reason we have such poor service in restaurants in the UK is that if our meal is not exactly as ordered we just put up and shut up rather than getting the problem sorted out
And whatever the problem I speak to whoever is the manager at the time and then write to HQ afterwards as they need to know exactly what happens in their restaurants

not so sure about the AND. if problem was sorted out to your satisfaction. no need to escalate.
  • If you take a bit of time to explain to staff they are always happy to help . Remember we get a lot of rude customers who drink too much and can't control the children in our pubs.

We must remember that everyone is entitled to have an opinion as long as it is kept in a curtious manner....and that we should not stereotype anyone....

It is unfortunate that in society we have persons who will misbehave in a manner not acceptable to a lot of people...But, If you do work for spoons then although it is not acceptable for bad behaviour....The skill that you should adopt is to deal with it in the best way as you can and in a polite manner...It is difficult for anyone to be aggressive towards a passive person...Do not spoons have door staff that can deal with these problems you have highlighted and obviously there are higher authorities who would gladly step in if needed...

As far as people being intoxicated on licensed premises such as spoons then perhaps it is spoons staff who should be looked at for continuing to serve alcohol to persons who are already intoxicated....This being said, on the whole the licensed trade should also look at this problem...

I hope this is taken in the manner with which is intended and not taken to be in anyway detrimental to you....

Have a nice day and Xmas too...

TBH that's not good enough and I would be ashamed. Also I don't make staff share tips as the front staff make all the contact with customers. With reference to the lady about reporting all I meant was a lot of people take the children to the pub and don't watch them or look after and just get drunk and forget what food they gave ordered- i see this a lot and they then moan they haven't got what they wanted they they have got what they ordered. My shift starts at 12 so good bye and I just wanted to give you the view from a staff member.
TBH I hope I don't come across you as you seem to dislike a lot of your customers.
I work in customer service and I am passionate about it as I love the bones of my patrons.....perhaps you might think of a career change in 2017 ???

    A few musings.....

In some professions and jobs, you do indeed NEED to work bank holidays, although these are often on a rota basis, or, one can choose whether to work those shifts or not. You may be on call. You will know this, before you choose that profession or job.

However, there are plenty of jobs, where the premises you work, do NOT need to open over bank holidays. And it's those premises/jobs, that should respect the value of family time, and stay closed.

I, from principle, will not shop on a bank holiday.

And yes, I will be working over New Year, it was my choice to do so, but for some of my colleagues, they had no choice.

This isn't always the case as my job changed to 24 hours and we already had contracts that said they could change working hours.
My dd2 used to work for T and they went 24 hour too and she was expected to change to suit - needless to say she got herself a much better job with a lot more prospects and pay and at least it gave her the kick to do it x
