Just popping back in as I need some advice re. Christmass puddings. My parents insist they usually have a sweet white sauce with it, not brandy or rum sauce, but it doesn't seem to exist in the shops! Has anyone else heard of it? I don't eat puddings containing dried fruit as a general rule so I'm unsure. My dad reckoned it was like a normal white sauce but with added sugar, but he is not known for his cooking skills so I have my doubts...

Yes it is just a sweetened white sauce. Make a sauce with milk, and, either cornflour or butter/plain flour roux, and add sugar to taste.

Well I don't think I'm going to get my Orchard cakes voucher. It was despatched on 5th so must be lost.
Why did it have to be one I really wanted

    Afternoon all,
I am sitting waiting for my car, all that needs replacing is a fuse and booked me they have rang about 6 places and can't get one:mad: last resort he has show out done where to see.
    Happy birthday scamps :bdaycake: :bdaycake:

Good that it is only a fuse, bad that it ise hard to get.
Have you managed to get one?

    Alternate methods are

    Another dealer
    Halfords
    EBay express delivery
    direct from your car manufacturer
    Google search
I use autobulbs direct for my bulbs/wipers etc
    http://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/
Maybe also the likes of Kwik Fit etc, no real need for an appointment just for a fuse.
    HTH

Birds do a Brandy Sauce in a sachet if you want an easy option.
    I think that's what your dad's suggesting.

    Hth. Like custard powder.

  • Fuel at S, to do swipe no 1 of 4, till spits = zero.

Home Baggins for loo rolls and saved £1 because I asked directions to the gift tissue paper and the person I asked was just unpacking wicker baskets, all of which were separated by pristine white tissue, so I had that instead. Can't believe what they must throw away in packaging.

Aldi for cherry liqueurs, 250g for 1.99 and just as nice as MS version. Noticed a lot of non-food stuff reduced substantially, eg slow cookers from £16 down to £9, digital scales around £4, baby things like cot mobile now half price, all big red SELs. The sort of stuff you see in January, mostly.

Decided to tidy living room and ended up having a change around, furniture wise, so now have 2 chunky items to get rid of which are in the way, this was not really such a good idea 10 days before Xmas...

We did the fuel fill up at Sainsbobs yesterday as I had an 8p fuel voucher (having done a Tu shop for badly fitting clothing)

Like you - not a single till spits, its been like this now for 3 weeks apart from the Tu fuel spits I got 4 in a row last Monday

Loo paper - got the Aldi Christmas loo paper on Saturday - night need to have 2 lots out, decorative loo paper and normal bog standard for everyday usage :rotfl:

I also got the Aldi cherry liquers on Saturday- how weird is this, have you been looking at my lists!

If its big items of furniture it might be worth trying the heart Foundation - we have a local furniture shop with a van that does weekly collections. All I had to do was ring them and they came and collected - originally it was just a desk, set of drawers and a sky box but by they also went away with a stool and 2 pictures
