Just made my second Christmas cake and it's in the oven. I know E and Elaine won't be happy but I just couldn't relax with the first one I made.:)
It'll be relegated to everyday cutting into cake:o:)
The kitchen looks like a bomb has dropped:o
My DB and three kids have just gone after spending the weekend here. A bomb in my kitchen would've been tidier!!! Just catching up now before tackling it...0 -

I think that is part of the reason why my cupboards tend to be very well stocked, because they were more or less bare then and there was times when I fed the kids at one time telling them I was eating with their father, then fed OH when he got home telling him I had eaten with the kids. The problem was almost entirely caused by my stepmother, knowing her it was almost certainly intentional, but we got through when OH gave up on the business for a short while and got a contract.
So we try to help when we can, there but for the grace of God and all that.
Im resonating with all this. I can remember when, as a child, necessities were Christmas/birthday presents and as a student having no money. My wardrobe is like your store cupboard Enterprise because I can remember having very few changes of clothing. For ages I bought stuff when I saw it in the charity shop or at a bargain prince in store but now I'm trying to rationalise and mend/alter what I have rather than buying more.0 -

Also does anyone know if you can use a spend till spill aswell as the posted spend coupon together in waitrose.
Gardenia can I please ask, what colour was the sticker on top of the bottle? I picked up a bottle in morries today with the lovely Christmas surprise sticker on it, I had a choice of either a green one or red. i chose red. I've just input the code into innocent website and my surprise was a whole list of corny jokes . Was your £1 moc inside the sticker or did you have to input the code? TIA:happylove Nanny to 2 Cherubs :happylove0 -
Afternoon all
Well went to make a start on the AMEX thing (first time Ive done it) and went to a PremIer grocery shop which is on the list of my local shops on the small shop offer, and asked them if they take AMEX and he said no, try the post office. So went to the post office and of course the post office counter wasn't open, only the shop bit so bottled it as not sure if the shop bit of the post office counts lol.
Will try again tomorrow. Mum wants some Christmas stamps.
Need to read back to see whats happeningShop small and Post Office are two different offers - make sure that you opt in to both.
If a business is listed on Shopsmall website but does not accept your Amex as payment, contact Amex and they will credit you the £5 anyway according to previous reports.

My hairdresser stopped taking Amex ages ago but is on the list. When I asked, the receptionist said they didn't take it but he said he'd changed supplier (of card processor?) and to try. It worked. So if they're on the list, ask to try so you can be sure before contacting Amex as Anon suggests?0 -

Various people I know swear by them and they are very impressive. My DB got most of his on eBay.0 -
It must be annoying to have a song in your head that you don't know the words to
Let me help, it's:
"Nellie the elephant packed her trunk and said goodbye to the circus"
You beat me to it, aau! I used to listen to Children’s Favourites (was it?) on Saturday morning even as a young adult and loved singing along to all the old corny songs, including this one!! Also My Grandfather's Clock and Albert who got eaten by the lion (ok, not a song). Was very sad when they discontinued the programme!0 -
Mhoc, how did your xmas dinner go?
Perfect!
Saturday -We got eldest son into the loft on Saturday morning in search of the Christmas card boxes and the table decorations. Then he went into town to see a mate and to get his hair cut. We went to drop some MOCs off with my couponing friend. Then we came back and I made the stuffing balls and pigs-in-blankets and wrapped more presents for eldest son who was making a hack of it. Then GF arrived back in time for dinner and they set the Christmas table between them. Dinner was perfect, OH was chief chef, nothing got burnt and no body swore at anyoneand it went exactly to schedule. I did meringue nests with raspberries and cream for pud Then we watched Michael McIntyre - GF and eldest son trying to figure out what sort of madness was going on :rotfl: Then we played cards and a lot of wine and gin and tonics were drunk
Sun day - GF and eldest son went for a 3 mile jog around the block at minus 3, came back showered and then OH made everyone bacon rolls - part bakes from Morrisons and Aldi dry cured bacon cooked in the microwave. Then we went to the local RSPCA Christmas fayre at the local cattery and cooed at all of the little black kittens. Then we went to get a few bits and pieces from the local farm shop and then came home to coffee and Mr Kipling mince pies.
GF managed to secrete her large parcel wrapped in black bin bags behind the seats. Eldest son squeezed his huge parcel in the back of the car alongside the suitcase, rucksac and shopping bags.
Then they set off for home again.
OH went to the kitchen to get his car keys and found that eldest son had left his house keys behind  So he rang him and fortunately they had only got to the A500, not as far as the motorway so they had to turn back to come home again for the keys. Eldest son went back to the car and I saw GF giving him the 3rd degree and making him empty his jacket pockets out so she could see for herself he had got his wallet, warrant card and other essentials - he does make a habit of this :rotfl:
So now we have a quiet house again and in 3 weeks we do it all again with eldest child (but not her BF as he goes home to his parents - yes its odd but they both prefer their own homes at Christmas)“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -
