I agree with you Emerald and DaveMorton that Saara has a really good voice and gives 110%
And in the beginning the public weren't voting for her but a bit of Mrs Sharon publicity ...on feel sorry for her she knows no one vote vote etc etc and she has the British public behind her
Does anyone else think that if this was Emily the little scotch girl in Finland that the Finnish would take their vote away from a Finnish contestant and take Emily THROUGH TO WIN THE X FACTOR of Finland
Sometimes I despair of this countries lack of support for their own .
My son lived in Europe for 10 years but I didn't see a mixture of RACES in their police force or their government and I would bet my last 10p that a Brit would never win a Finnish or Spanish X FACTOR
Running for cover now
I haven't been watching it perky....so I might have my facts wrong.....but if it's a singing competition( or let's be honest......is it really?:rotfl:. Or is it a promotional tool to massage the judges egos and bank balances)
If it's a singing competition....should the best singer not win? I'm assuming the rules have allowed a foreign national.
Frankly I would be embarrassed if we promoted a poor performer above someone with a better voice, simply because she was a British. It wouldn't seem fair:oTo do is to be. Rousseau

It is the same with Britain's Got Talent - the rules seem to be anyone can enter from anywhere, so as a result it is no wonder people enter from everywhere as both shows can be a fantastic opportunity to showcase your talent (with a big cash prize too ).
You could develop the format to have similar shows in various countries aimed at only their own population, with then an international competition where the winnes from each then compete for the global prize ... but that has already partly been done with Eurovision.

I've just tried the blippar app for the first time and have won a £10 voucher but it wont accept the date of birth. I must be putting it in wrong. Tried all different combinations with . and / in between date month and year but it wont accept any. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?
Thank you for any help.0 -

I feel blessed to have the life I have, I take nothing for granted and cherish those I love but I can't alter the way the world is.....on my own. Like thousands of others, I volunteer and donate but it's never enough is it?:o
very true but if we all do our bit, however small or however spasmodic, to make the world a less awful more acceptable place then it all matters and it all makes a difference“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

JL prices make can make me feel uncomfortable ...
Sorry, I am not mocking - I agree there are such contrasts in society (and the world at large) you do wonder how it can happen.
You can only do what you can do and help where you can, but when you work hard for all you have and achieve, you shouldn't feel guilty for that. It is worth reminding yourself now and again though that not everyone may have had the opportunities in life you have had.
And just to be clear, when I say you, I mean we, all of us - appreciate what we have when things are going okay, as it doesn't always take much for circumstances to change :A.

Good morning all, bit of a ground frost round this way.
The outside thermometer is at head height and didn't get below 0.7!What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

Impressed Anon, lovely response.
It is the time of year that we all reflect on our own life and others lives. Don't ever loose that compassion TM, or I will drive up north and knock it back into you!! :rotfl::rotfl:100 -

That is very true. At one point we were 2 weeks from losing the house. But now we have the mortgage paid and have some cash behind us, it is a lovely feeling but I still remember the hard days and act accordingly.
I think that is part of the reason why my cupboards tend to be very well stocked, because they were more or less bare then and there was times when I fed the kids at one time telling them I was eating with their father, then fed OH when he got home telling him I had eaten with the kids. The problem was almost entirely caused by my stepmother, knowing her it was almost certainly intentional, but we got through when OH gave up on the business for a short while and got a contract.
So we try to help when we can, there but for the grace of God and all that. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
