Thats ok to say when you dont get flooded but when its year after year you dont want to heat that,............sorry

I totally agree, it is short term government policy that led to the ditches and culverts not being maintained.

Where are new house is, there is a culvert running in front of the houses which we noted was blocked. OH had cleared ours, but it was still backing up and still flooding the land. He went through various government bodies, and he was getting good at quoting relevant legislation... when some men turned up, blasted through the blockage and then billed the neighbour!

Its part of the company I work for (I don't deal with flooding myself) but even with all the flooding issues we are still having massive cuts in money and staff and on our 3rd restructure in less than 5 years

    Evening paw sniffers:D

Finally DD has found her way home along flooded roads and villages. Oz hasn't been seen all day. He's frightened of the wind and will be hiding somewhere and certainly won't venture out in the rain.

    This weather is terrible:eek:

Hope everyone is safe and well.

Just catching the tail end of best wishes for Mr Dol. Fingers crossed that everything is fine this time Sarah:T.
Glad she got home safe it is terrible:eek:

Even if the drains were cleaned regularly that would help a little bit, but not 95% are blocked and got plants growing out of them:(

We get consulted on new housing estates etc and even when its been pointed out that its a flood plain/will flood etc Councils and companies can still go ahead and build on these sites. Its very annoying. One site I drove past had flooded before they had even finished building the houses

  • I have been looking for flood proof doors, but they really do not exist. I cannot believe it, as they would make a fortune. Similar technology to a walk in bath.... reinforced bars to cope with the pressure.

Anyone want to set up business with me.... we could make a killing!

I understand that with cuts just saying it dont help people that get flooded year in and year out

They used to pay the farmers to keep them clean.... it worked reasonably well.

They have started doing this again, but it needs to be regular.

I know the feeling, I drove past an area that had flooded terrible. To the left they were putting in a large hole for flooding, to the right they were building new houses... the monkeys are running the zoo!
