exactly.
If you buy a Tu summer dress for £22 which is the standard price you would be wearing and washing it for years and years, OK our summers are minimal but you would get the expected amount of usage. And if you got fed up of it eventually and took it to the charity shop it would still be saleable.
A Tu jumper might cost £20 and if you are lucky its one winter before its only fit for the cloth recycling bin.
What I cant figure out this, wool is so cheap it costs farmers more to have the sheep snipped than they would get for the cost of the pelt. So why if its so valueless is this wool not mixed in with the man made fibres to get the best combination of warmth, durability and economy?
Some summers I've been through my jumper collection and every single one has been taken to cloth recycling or Oxfam clothing bank so Ive had to start all over again. I started a cull again this year and most of the hideous winter jumper dresses have gone - they are even worse than the jumpers themselves. Mostly the winter stuff is in the blanket chest, not quite ready to tackle it yet.
I have a couple of cashmere thin jumpers and it might be the winter to bring those out.
The most embarrassing thing is when you go into a coffee shop in the middle of winter, heating on full blast so you strip off the hat, 2 scarves, ski gloves and then take your jacket off and only then realise you have the awful bobbly raggity jumper on over your jeans, the one that is so shaming you cant believe you still wear it so your jacket has to go back on again. :rotfl:“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Spent my evening at Bingo last night getting bitter & twisted at not coming near to a win:o
My friend won twice & on last house (the big one) she only had 4 numbers left when 1st line was won. Then 2 numbers when 2nd line won.
I needed a miracle, but suddenly all my numbers were called - one after another  & I shouted house. Much to mine & my friends surprise:o:o After all my grumbling

Good morning E, cool here and blue skies too
. I meant to ask you the other day, how did you get on with the garage doors? Are they fitted yet? X
You're making me worry now, I've just been and got mine and uploaded receipt  I hope I did get the right one. It was £1 and it's 180g. P/c last 4 are 0458
I am convinced now Ive got the wrong one - mine is 8768 - yours is the right one. I am going to round up the receipts now.
Mine have been accepted so thats OK but I think I am still going to see if my store has the others so I can do a straight swap as I need to visit CS anyway“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. DH bought 3 up and go's said had £2.37 overage. You could do more vouchers but he doesn't want to draw attention;)
Teabags are on offer for £3.50. On my my picks they will be £2.80, so 43p left to pay. An absolute bargain as this is my daily cuppa.
Again the prawns Are 1/3 off atm. On my picks they are then £2.66, so with the overage 28p left to pay (although I've worked it out to be 29p, so may end his text message was wrong, anyway still a bargain) These are going in the freezer ready for Xmas day :T
Can you use Up and go in Waities aswell then ??0 -

Thank you all for the lovely comments about last night....I must confess I know very little about being homeless, and yep I fully expect nothing to change regarding the potential to house this lady.
I guess there are some people who are happier with freedom or are unwilling to accept what help can be given...that all part of human choice.
I will every few days pop down with something small...I guess even a cup of something warm when its cold has got to be better than being ignored by everyone else who walks or drives past.
This sort of thing has really started to get to me...perhaps in the past I've been a little immune to it...or maybe I'm just going soft in my old age...but kindness costs nothing and the small gesture of a little food or warm drink isn't going to impact me much...but it may help her.
I'm going to wait and see what comes of the report I did via Seren's link last night...there was the option to tick the box to be updated on progress...I ticked it so hopefully I will at least get some further acknowledgment.
I'll keep you posted
All my tooing and froing last night and this morning, I've just found out it is you with the lady, not mhoc :rotfl: :rotfl:
Our lady is still around this morning, with a sleeping bag and a duvet. She had a different thermos beside her but I think this is because of replenishment from different people.
There was talk about her last year, people wondering why she was living on the streets etc. Someone from Social Services sent a message to say that they were aware of her, she has no pmental health issues and had refused several offers of housing from the council. So stalemate in her case, unless she relents and asks this year for accommodatio. There are several 1 bed flats vacant and have been for several months.
It's so heart wrenching to think that she's happier living that way, rather than under a roof, thank god our town folk tend to look after her with food and drinks. I was told this morning that the pub near the church take her a hot meal at tea time.
Hopefully your lady will accept help and spend a comfy warm winter somewhere, sarahskint wrote: »i am currently wearing a tu wooly jumper which i got last year on the double up and it is ridiculously bobbly, i can't wear it out as its a chunky knit the loose bits that hang off all the time make it now not able to be worn out of the house, but out of protest i will not bin it yet lol suprised its not threadbare under the armpits because great chunks have been removed from there! I bought a cable knit long line cardy jacket 4 years ago, for the last 2 years, it looks in such a shabby, tufty state. Yes, I've removed clumps from under the arms too. I feel like a yeti wearing it but it is still warm :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:There's no place like home
Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.
Hugs and healing thoughts are always going your way.0
