On my nectar account I have the following...
    17 Nov 2016
BONUS! You earned 4,000 Pts at Sainsbury's
    17 Nov 2016
You redeemed 8,000 Pts at Sainsbury's

But my balance is the same, is the 4000 points just something to do with the £20 double up voucher I got, as if it isnt, then my balance has not gone up.

Edit: ignore, woke up a bit now, and it is.

For the double up, they are taking the full amount of the voucher (ie £40) and then adding back 50%.
They seem to go out of their way to make it as complicated as possible :)

If you are expecting a 50% success rate add on a few things that you don't really want and hope that the success is with the things that you do want :D

Or perhaps I should just add more chocolate to the list, just to be on the safe side ;)

    Good morning all...

Sorry I disappeared quickly last night.....I decided to bite the bullet and try and "help" the elderly lady in the bus shelter.

I first used Seren's link and reported the location and details,it seemed to accept them and I had an auto response that appears to suggest that it's being passed to the local authority to process.

I tried to contact an out of hours social services team but oh my goodness what a palaver and in the end I just had to admit defeat.

OH wasn't keen on me wandering down there on my own in the dark so we decided to take the car and put together a couple of pillows some hot soup in an old flask and some bread and cheese....not much but basically all we could put our hands to quickly.

We got there and the lady was there...not much conversation with her but I think she was grateful of what we had given.
It was chucking it down with rain so that may have been a factor in her not wanting to interact I guess.

Time will tell how it progresses...but I do hope something more permanent can be sorted for her going forward.

Hope everyone is well...my cough seems to have really livened up again today and I'm feeling very tired so I think I have no option but a rest day.

Off for a read back and catch up.

Stay warm and safe all x

  • LEJC, that was a lovely thing to do.

I hope the lady gets the help she needs from the authorities.

LEJC, that was lovely for you to try and do what you could to help. Just don't be surprised if nothing changes quickly. Some people who've lived on the streets a long time find it difficult to adjust to having a bed and a roof and routine, and people expecting things of them. But you've done what you can, and more than most, so you should be pleased about that, and take it easy today!

While I'm about, does anyone know whether Amazon charge for returns? I'm thinking of buying a Hamilton beach breakfast muffin maker for £14.99 but would want to return it for free next week if it appears on a lightning deal or Black Friday offer.

Very glad that you acted on your instincts, are you going to have a try ringing social services again today?
As someone said that night there are people who hate being confined within 4 walls and will always choose to sleep out.

There was a very famous man who lived on a Wolverhampton roundabout for years

Thank you for the link, it's definitely on the agenda now. In fact you've just sorted out how we'll be spending our Sunday lol. We've been to Winter Park once before, three or four years ago, but didn't do the boat trip so that's something else for the list. We spent quite a long time wandering round the Rollins College campus which was lovely. DH also enjoyed watching the trains go through, amazing how long they are. The Tiffany museum was good too. I'd forgotten what a lovely day we had in Winter Park, thank you for the reminder :)

I will confess you've made my eye's leak a little HG with your reference to the trains...a memory from one of our first visits to Florida when the boys were still young just caught up with me....we sat for hours one Sunday morning just watching the trains and counting the carriages....then we met up with an eccentric american lady called the turtle lady who was walking her turtles on the grass area near the station....

Tiffany ...loved the glass museum and I have been known to sniff out the shops too...another of my favourite haunts is up at millenia mall...julie and Jay always sort me out and let me try whatever I want on....bless them last year they even gave me candy canes not in traditional red and white but tiffany blue and white when they realised it was my birthday.(all beautifully wrapped up in a box with ribbon and bag.)
