Awaiting the rain here too Enterprise :o

:( Dad taken into hospital late last night, same problem as before.
They went yesterday morning by hospital transport to have the catheter removed, stayed there until he could wee normally, then hospital transport 'lost them' & they were eventually taken home at 8.30pm :eek::eek: :(:(:( meanwhile the laxatives had taken effect whilst they were waiting :(:(:( & they had missed the Carers so Mum had to wash him down by herself.

They went to bed but after midnight Dad called Mum to ring for an ambulance as he was in pain

My older is DS is going down today - but we are going to have to have a family pow wow & sort out the future.

Oh Snap that's not good. I remember all too well having to sort out my mum on my own at the most unearthly hours. :(

Sending lots of positive thoughts that something can be sorted to ease the burden on your dear mum and your poor dad's suffering xxx

    ♥ Bless you.

Yes I've spoken with older DS & the solution is to employ a live in carer :) Where do we start to find one?

I'm sorry can't help you there I was the live in carer.

I did start to get night sits by carers though not sure if your dad would be entitled to any. It was my "carer assessment" that I think helped with that possibly your mum could be assessed but I know it can all be very intrusive xx

7 posts since last night ...so where were the night shift ?

The night shift has been effectively killed off and the thread is a lesser place for it too.
There was always someone around in the wee small hours. So many people benefitted from the support and having someone to talk to when things were tough or they needed a distraction.

Sorry to hear about your Dad Snap. It might be worth asking for him to be re assessed by Social Services as his needs have increased. If they do - then you will need to make sure that they don't put your Mum down as meeting the increased needs.

This happened to someone I know and when taken to task SS said they would carry out a Carers Assessment to take account of extra care the Carers was now been asked to provide. Glad to say it was sorted out in the end but not without a lot of anxiety and worry for the couple concerned.

Do hope you find a solution Snap xx
