sarahskint, did you actually get a written report from your mechanic? If the place where you bought it is a member of a trade body the first thing I would do (after you have it back fixed of course) is report it, that is absolutely disgusting. And if they do MOTs I would report it to the body attached to that too. If they do it once they have almost certainly done it before and will do it again.
