My thought on the booking system was perhaps that they gave preference to newly registered people...that certainly was the case for DS who only registered with them the week before his email came out .....and he was able to book because his invite seemed to come out early in the afternoon.

I've been registered with the website since mhoc pointed us to it last year when she found the first one...but it wasn't until this year that I actually had an invite email...

    Good afternoon

I am finding the frugal experiences very interesting..not boring.
I can imagine that for people who have to do it all the time and without backup of a good store cupboard would end up with a very boring and bland diet of pasta, bread and rice.

Very little protein and fresh fruit and veg unless they had a garden or allotment.

Mind you looking at wombles most of them have snack food on them which years ago nobody would be buying and is where most of the money is spent.

This is very true - I find wombles fascinating, mostly because of the sheer amount of carp on some of them, I've often read through wombles posted on here and wondered 'but where is the real food?'

It seems especially true of the high-spend wombles.

The current trend seems to be putting things in individual packs and pots, eg jelly pots, sachets of porage, snackpots etc, and then charging well over quadruple for the item it contains. The manufacturers must be having a real laugh - sell them less and charge them more...

Thank you Tinyshoes. Sorry you didn't have any luck.

I'm guessing you tried other areas too? When I first went on I was actually planning on booking for my mother in another area but they were all gone. The one I ended up getting was my local one.

I have been registered for bella emails since mhoc pointed us to it last year and I was the one this year that posted I had an email to say you needed to join the new "Bella Club" with a login and password for invite to this years Big Dinner. But unfortunately my luck was not in...

From memory I don't think you needed an invite email last year. I might be wrong.

In the end I was just hitting random ones to see if anything was available :rotfl:, obviously wouldn't have gone through with a booking.

I did try near DD1 and DD2 after finding nothing left in S'ton. I am just not quick enough.
