something funny is going on. Yesterday I uploaded milk receipts and some have just vanished without trace and others just uploaded as 1p and taking photos and getting them to upload is difficult.
I always write the uploaded numbers on the back of the receipts so I can check the amounts afterwards“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Afternoon all!
Funny how watching what you spend on food can affect your decision making, I was going to buy some ham for lunch, then realised it was £1 for 4 slices or £3 for a decent-sized pack, so I left it and had tuna from the cupboard instead
Bought some quality butchers sausages for £3.85, but they're so nice and filling that they'll do for 4 portions, a 4-pint of milk for 95p and some Maris pipers for £1.70 as I'll be doing shepherd's pie for tea instead of takeaway when my friend comes over tonight. Total outlay so far: £6.50. I reckon I can do all evening meals from the freezer and cupboards, so just need some bread, fruit and veg (and soup) to keep us going during the day. Definitely do-able.
We're visiting family for the next 2 weekends in a row so that should help, although I woke up in the night as I realised my dad offered to take us to Makro and Costco using his card when we visit them, so that could be bad for the budget :rotfl: I wouldn't count the bulk-buy loo rolls or kitchen roll, but it's the massive lemon drizzle loaf cake which would be the downfall
even though I am not doing the challenge it is making me aware of what and how I spend. For instance today I got a pack of sweet potatoes from Aldi for 85p - we've noticed the loose ones in supermarket, at least around here are a massive size so good for family meals but too much for us to eat in one sitting.
The medium sized ones in aldi packs are good for us but I had a look at the actual numbers and some had one sweet potatoes plus a tiny one so I looked for a 5 pack - you have to factor in how many you are cooking for and the size of appetites.
Re ham - Aldi do a very good quality Bavarian ham which I think is £1 a pack but odd times on offer for 89p, I tend to save a slice for cutting into little squares to go into a cheese sauce to go into a pasta bake“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. You are a lady with many talents
I started cutting my dad's hair when I was a teenager, then mum, then nephew and nieces, OH, kids... it got silly at one point I was doing everyone's hair. In the 1990's the kids used to have shave hair, then a bold line... I have always been able to cut this really straight at this time I was doing all my friends and their kids hair. I really ought to have charged!
DS2 once went to have his hair cut in a salon, he sat in the chair and expected the stylist to read his mind. He had to explain it was the first time in a salon, and mum just knows what to do, apparently all the ladies looked after him!
Now restrict doing hair to OH and the kids as I would pay for these (although I did DS3's friend the other day).100 -
