Today's stupidity from my life of being a LL....
(sorry cjj if I'm putting you off joining the merry band of landlordism....it's not usually this bad, just frustrating at times)
On going saga with a management company and a consent I paid £84 to obtain and they refused....
...apparently now my complaint has been escalated to the Director of the management company,he has had the details for almost 2 weeks and is yet to respond...because he works full time!
....well get him...so do a lot of other people and seen as I did pay £84 to the company as an administration charge I'd now like my complaint administered.......frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

Next - Changes to interest charges for account holders
http://www.hotukdeals.com/misc/next-changes-interest-charges-for-account-holders-2510585I've just received an email from Next about changes to their credit agreement. Looks like they are going to start charging interest on ordered goods from the day after you collect them from store (or they think you'll collect them) or the day after they are delivered.
"We’ve added wording to make clear that, where you have placed an order for delivery to a Next store, we’ll begin to charge interest on that item either from the day after it’s collected from the store or from the day after we expect the order to be available for collection, whichever is sooner."
You haven't even got time to try them on and take them back before you're charged interest! I'm terrible for not usually reading these sorts of emails but did this time.
Edit - I just phoned Next and the only way to be able to place online orders and avoid the interest charges it to make sure you have a cash-only account so you can pay for items at time of placing the order.Apparently, everybody knows that the bird is [strike]the word[/strike] a moorhen0 -
LEJC, a question for you if I may as I see you are a landlord. If a tenant got in touch say the washing machine had gone on the blink how long would be acceptable to make them wait before coming to look at/do something about it? Tia x...those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

A lot will depend on the type of fault and the age of the machine.lots of LL's have service and repair contracts with the manufacturer so it then boils down to how fast they can call out and fix....thats when it can get a little sticky and sometimes the tenant feels things dont move as fast as they could.
My theory is that a washing machine isnt hugely expensive so putting one in is cheaper than some service contracts so we dont go down that route.
both times that I have had problematic washing machines to deal with we were happy that they were well and truly knackered and as such ordered new machines to be delivered from those lovely ao people....so actually my tenants each time were without a machine for I think 5 days but then had a new one.
My actual advice would be to keep chasing it sometimes it's not always the LL's fault because of obtaining parts etc...but sometimes they just need reminding.
I will however say I'm much more lax on our things...last year our washing machine broke down and I was 34 days without it...but thats because we were waiting on a part which when arrived was the wrong one.......on the flip side one of our properties needed a new roof earlier this year and it was on and off in 6 days!
In my mind my tenants pay good rent and hopefully get a good service back but sometimes they may need to roll with it a little longer than they may like....
ETA...it also depends if the tenant deals direct with the LL or has a managed contract with a Letting agent....sometimes going through the LA can add days to a repair or query simply because they will need to contact the LL to find out what they want to do...just because a property is managed doesn't mean that the LA can do as they please they still need to check with the LL most of the time.frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
