Good Morning all.Lovely day here apart from the drilling going on next door.My neighbours are having all the pebbledash taken off their house.Non stop drilling from 8 this morning and all day last Friday.

Hope it stays nice for bubbs this week.
I did a up and go shop this morning at the asda the other side of town.Forgot my list so winged it.
I used £10.38 worth of apgs and put £10 on Christmas saving card. The bill came to £10.16 leaving £9.78 to pay.

It actually went through at £9.78 to pay.I was under the impression that this was no longer working going into a negative balance.

You didn't go into a negative balance though.

    You used a £10.38 APG against a £20.16 spend

Yes but I put £10 on a savings card.I thought that this was not possible since the new apg system came into play.

If I were he then dont do the computer science A level either at college or night classes....its outdated before it even begins in terms of what they learn as by the time they finish the course new stuff and technology has replaced it....thats why lots of places are no longer offering it.

Our DS wanted to do GCSE originally with a view to A level but the school dropped the A level 2 years ago as it just isnt competitive and current any more...it seems most other places are now seeing that it actually has little place in the workplace so its being phased out.

If he has a major desire to do something computer based I would suggest that he either waits for workplace training that is current to whatever they use or pick some generic word or graphic courses etc...
Having just gone through the whole Alevel thing I would say just stick to his subject choices rather than trying to do added things to be a "super hero"....A levels are more difficult than GCSE by quite a jump up and the workload quite demanding...its better to do 3 well rather than try 4 with middle grades if university is his eventual aim.

I dont want to sound like the prophet of doom and I also know that trying to change the mind of a teen who has something locked in as the way forward is nigh on impossible ...but just wanted to share a few thoughts as someone who's been through it

My DH is now head developer at the company he works for. He, and most of his colleagues/employees, got the skills they needed to study computer science at university, and/or to become programmers at work, by using books and the internet and teaching themselves. As you say, it's something that changes so quickly, and there's such a wide variety of computer languages and areas of interest, that it's more effective for people to pick what they enjoy and practise it in their own time.

I also wouldn't advise an evening course as A levels are such a big jump up from GCSEs and require a lot more evening study, without trying to do extras. Rhosy, I'd personally say see if your DS wants to do a project, like make a computer game, or an app, or a website, or whatever he's interested in, and then he can use that as a learning opportunity to begin with. There's a lot of websites where developers post issues they're having, and others point them in the right direction, it's a global community :)

I thought that too Sal. Perhaps something to do with the price before multibuy came off - presuming you bought 5/10 up&go's?

I bought a tub of Celebrations as part of a hipp shop but T doesn't recognise that A sell them at all

also, the hipp pouches are now comparing to As 6 for £4 (nothing to gain on them but if using hipp as fillers on a TvA shop make sure you include the comparable ones in 6's)

  • Afternoon all nice and sunny now but managed to get caught in the one heavy shower that took me by surprise

Popped in Ts to see if they had any of the cheap Catfood I found in an Express - no joy. But I did manage to get some £££s of my shopping.

    SSM.

Bon voyage to all the Elite off on their hols - so jealous but looking forward to hearing all about them on your return:wave::wave:

Enjoy the rest of your day Folks x
