  • Morning all - nice and sunny so some garden clearance today.

Snap can't believe what your Doctors triage said about your ear. I had one of those telephone assessments by 111 operator when it happened to me and the outcome was that I needed to have it examined by Doctor within 2 hrs. Unfortunately the operator wasn't able to secure an appointment so she said she would ring back within 2 hrs and do another assessment  You could imagine what my response was. :D So DD took me to Walk in centre where only had to wait half an hour to see the Doctor. Got prescribed antibotics

Joke was while we were at Pharmacy in Tesco, 111 rang back to say that they managed to secure an appointment at the same centre an hour later.

Actually it isn't really a joke just another system that can let you down when you most need it.

Hope you can your ear sorted in time for your hols.

MKS hope your GS has made a full recovery and you have got over the shock too.

Have a Good one folks x

    :)

Very dull here - need to wash the sofa loose cover, thinking of selling my ancient Laura Ashley sofa as I want something more 'upright' - I have a spare set of covers in attic if the these don't dry in time today.

Having my hair cut at noon, in salon that is doing a 'Brave The Shave' today for charity I have just read in local paper :eek::eek::eek:
_pale_ I'll take some stash for their raffle & hopefully still have my hair ;)

    Good morning all...

    Mhoc....re the christmas paper...
How about making your own with a roll of brown paper and potato printing a star design....not sure if you have a collection of paints etc but a bit of glitter or sparkly stars can be easy and cheaper than buying....or a small tester pot in a clearance sale of something red can look very festive...double up with green too and you could do a holly design.

Otherwise have a look in the cheap card and pound shops for plain metallic type papers.... a couple of rolls should do the boxes

If anyone has an old Yorkshire Bank current account direct than its another account where the interest rate is falling from a magnificent 5% down to 2% and then in December down to 1.5% :(

You could have up to £3k in your current and earn about £5 a month gross - I suppose its still better than anything any of the ISAs are paying

But this is another account no longer on offer - some people might have it as it had a £100 switch incentive which I think is also gone.

They have replaced it with something called current account plus which has a savings account element but its not the same thing at all.

I don't know how these things work but I suspect its another government ploy to get us spending our way out of the depressed economy now the incentives to save are so minimal.

But I thought that banks and building societies needed people saving to fund the mortgages - if the amount going into banks and building societies into savings each month falls wont there be less mortages available?

an interesting idea - I've been wrapping presents in plain brown paper since March and they do look very elegant - eldest son ran off with my last good roll of birthday paper :D

I really like the idea of decorating my own paper and doing potato printing - I really miss doing make and do and arts and crafts when our gang were little :D

I know this isn't ethical but occasionally when I'm in Ikea, I nick their brown paper for that very reason :o

Morning all  I have a gluten free fruit cake in the oven and 100 cupcakes to make today. I predict the fruit cake is going to be a crumbly mess :rotfl:

:rotfl: welcome to the naughty club!

I have to say I'm pretty p*ssed off today. Out of 3 agencies one has underpaid me, one has forgotten to submit my timesheet and laughingly said 'don't worry you'll get paid next week' and the other accountant has forgotten entirely to arrange cover, therefore no one has been paid and instead sent a curt reply of 'well I'm entitled to go on holiday' I sent a reply back to say 'well I'm entitled to send you my bank charges when they are applied on Monday'. Needless to say I haven't received a reply yet :rotfl:
