  • Don't think much of the Up and Go - tried strawberry one and it reminds me of those slimfast milkshake things and the fortified drinks my ma had when she couldn't eat solids.

Better than missing breakfast, I guess, but not worth full price ever.

todays conundrum - lack of Christmas wrapping paper

A few days ago I had the email about the Christmas shoe box collections. I tend to save bits and prices for them all year and I start the day after I've dropped off the current years boxes. Also this year I've been good and remembered to go and ask for boxes everytime I am in town and passing a Clarks shoe shop - the childrens shoe boxes are just the right size, nice and sturdy and have nice patterns on them.

A few years back John Lewis had very cheap wrapping paper in the sale about August time and I did a big order, must have been 10 rolls - must hilarity when I went to collect them from Waitrose. This paper was bright red and garish but perfect for the job of covering the boxes and they all looked very festive and exciting. I've been doing 6 or 7 boxes a year so the boxes all matched and looked perfect.

Needless to say I think I was running very low last Autumn and I was again hoping for a good clearance offer but I've not seen any, not really thought about the wrapping paper situation despite being very organised with collecting contents and boxes this year.

I should really have been looking in January but there was a lot of family stuff going on and then we were away whilst the height of the after Christmas sales were on and lost interest in shopping by the time we got back

I am wondering if any of the cheap card shops also sell wrapping paper maybe? I am worried about the quality, it has to be quite good quality stuff which wont rip.

I also thought about asking on my streetilfe group but that in itself could be fraught - its very anal but I need to have all of the boxes with the same paper on and matching, quite mad. On Streetlife I would probably get everyones left over cheap nasty stuff, sheets rather than rolls etc and I would be too polite to refuse anything offered :D

I don't get the boxes together until the end of October so there is plenty of time yet - I've probably got enough for 10 boxes this year so that does not help

I've not tried them but errant son was back at the weekend and with me in Mr !!!!!! and we almost cleared the shelf and he took home 20 packs of vanilla and chocolate plus the other odd few that were in the fridge. Mind you he has a vast appetite and must need at least 3000 kcals a day so at least it will keep him going ...

Say you need rolls and a fair amount of them?
