  • We had 2 large beech sectional felled and we kept the wood for £350 by a qualified tree surgeon. The council gave us same names to try

Morning. Been missing a while but only read back a couple of pages so no idea what's been going on, sorry. :o

Aj I can see you've not been well, hope you are on the mend a little now? Take it easy and don't overdo it.

Rhos I hope your bloods go ok.

    Bubbs good luck stage dentist.

Hugs to anyone that might need them.

I've been a little stressed this last week hence I've not been on here. Garden was redone. Everything dug out and started from scratch. Decking is now great. Artificial grass there has been a major mess up with the quality of the product used and it is going to have to be replaced for a third time. :(

Oh no, hope it gets sorted out for you, after all the hassle you have had with it.
  • Sarahdol, hope all goes well.

    AJ get better soon.

Bubbs good luck at the dentist.

Mhoc, I had a sudden thought that your son who is moving into his new flat with his g/f and going for the minimalist look, may in fact remain minimalist till he is in his 50s and beyond. You might need A Plan. :D

I am now imagining the Elite pantries and garden stores and garages having new shelves put in this week to take the 15 jars of various pickles (or 30 if they have multiple accounts :)) all bought with various APGS - looking very homestyle :)

even if you are not keen on pickles these would be good for adding to food bank trolleys

Oh does like pickle but has to be in the mood for it

    Morning all

Boys both dropped at school... My voice had a little wobble as I said goodbye to the little one but my mascara is intact (just!) ;)
I'm going to use this morning to head over to Boots to collect an order and my nearest Ts Extra and have a good mooch. Small needs collecting at 12 today so not got too long to amuse myself. I have a whole A4 jobs list of things to get done once I have whole days to myself.
The boys were very pleased with their new Monopoly game from Smyths that DH took them to get whilst I was working on Saturday :)
Right, hope you all have a good day, I'll catch up again later

Could you get any monopoly please? Or was it the normal on?

smyths had no monopoly games left after an hour of opening on Saturday - bloody disgrace to advertise it was on for a week, we went to look for a scooter for our DS but all they had was electric or one of those split leg ones - no thanks!! so I gave the vouchers I had printed to a mum with her kids who were all spending birthday money and she was very grateful as could use them all!!

The even worse bit is the summer when your offspring finish uni or college etc and there is no going back in September/October you are no longer the mum to a students/students - instead you are the mum to young adults and that's when you feel really chronologically challenged

When my youngest finished uni it was all over in a flash - he had his interview for his first job and he was accepted and then had 6 weeks to finish all of his uni assignments and coursework and then he was gone up north, late May.
When your life has been segmented into the school year for decades there is a disjointed sense of loss when the calendar no longer has neat starts and finishes .

we should be racing around shouting "At last I am free of the drudgery of the school calendar, I don't have to slot my life in between 9 and 3, I can disappear for 4 day weekends just on a whim..." Instead it just takes a bit of time before you realise you are now your own boss again :D

Mhoc you are very fortunate to have children that are able to return to the fold

it looks quite like an open plan flat so if things are not sorted and put away it will soon look messy I think.
As for keeping it minimalist I don't know - in your 20s you tend to be defined by the amount of stuff you accumulate

    Interesting times ahead though.

Hugs, this is another transition time which must be even more painful for you.

Last year we though errant son had gone east forever and the Christmas visit would probably be his last trip home, always to live on the other side of the world and basically shutting it out altogether.

so when we did get him home in early July it was such an utter relief and now I still feel relieved that at least he is in Kent, 4 hours away and not in the Far east, 7 hours time difference and 2 days travelling ..
