Awwww how exciting (though not the being poorly bit.....I hope you're all feeling better soon). We've been in our house almost 5 years, and I've still not bought a pair of curtains :rotfl: We do have blinds on every window, so that's my excuse! How exciting!
What sort of house is it? Semi, terraced? How many bedrooms? Sorry I love house buying lol0 -
Hey guys,
Mrs Save you've shattered my dreams of a perfect home ha ha ha I've been pinteresting but it has made me come to terms with the fact that it won't be shopping galore when we move in like I imagined when I brought my first home. I will be spending as little as possible for now then once legal fees and moving costs are covered plus essentials like curtains piles so we can close windows etc I want £1000 emergency fund then anything else on my wish list will be saved for!!! I promise!!
Chelsea blue it's a semi with garage, 3 bed ensuite, new build but it's on a village so has a great garden compare to Andover new build we've seen 22mx10m we have got in early enough on the build to pick carpets, kitchens and bathrooms. Eeek I had a good haggle too and got it for £165,000!!
So £500 holding deposit paid today on the house. Broker appointment Monday to get the application started. I think it's going to be a stressful few weeks waiting for the answer.

Exciting times! Congratulations! We've bought a new build before - whilst I would definitely do it again and think it's a great way to get a blank canvas, don't forget that all fixtures/fittings etc are usually not included unless you've negotiated them as part of the sale, so remember to budget for carpets/flooring, light fittings, curtain poles, blinds, everything. I was surprised when we did it quite how much you take for granted as being there when you buy a 'used' house lol xxHIGHEST DEBT £63,300 LBM 27/5/2020 DEBT FREE DATE 31.08.20220 -
Exciting times! So pleased for you as I know you've wanted to get on the property ladder for ages.
I bought a new house in 2009 and it's great to walk into that brand new blank canvas, but don't forget what Debbie says you do need all the fittings for the bathroom, blinds, lights etc. Don't forget your solicitors fees which can be a lot.
Have you got appliances included? Could you sell your current ones to create some cash?
Fingers crossed it all goes through for you!0 -
Hey guys sorry I've been quiet still here and still not spending.
All flooring, kitchen and bathroom are included. I've a meeting Thursday to pick what we want. The builder has chose middle range for everything according to the guy I spoke to so he says I have a lot of choice. Eeek!
Broker meeting today she thinks mortgage will go through fine and once I've sorted my help to buy application she will run the mortgage through.
We have enough in saving for all fees and have about three months before the house is build to save for curtain poles etc. We will keep the emergency fund building up and keep that aside. Anything we buy for the house will be saved for and paid off in full!!! Please tell me off if I don't follow this rule!!
I'll have to take out life insurance and building etc so once all accounts have settled I will rejig my budget and any extra money split between house stuff and savings. I have a list of things I want....dishwasher, coardless hoover, new bedroom furniture etc but we will make do with what we have for now. We currently have fitted wardrobe ds2 has one but ds1 will need one asap. We said we'd deal with clothing rails for a while until we save up. I will not get into debt again I promise!!! We'll apart from the mortgage!!!
Right best go sort the kids I was just googling things I wanted to buy so checked in to kee me grounded!!! Xxemergency fund:£179/ £1000 Uniform/car fund:£

Morning,
Accounts are looking grim. Payday on 15th we are still always a couple of hundred off where we need to ideally be. Hopefully once this months whooping £750 childcare bill is paid things will settle a little and be less frustrating to look at.
Exciting day today I'm going to pick the kitchen for the new house. I've got to behave and just stick to the budget of the builder.
Application for the 20% equity help to buy submitted and that should take 4 working days to sort then the broker will submit our mortgage application. I'm still not convinced we'll get approved so trying to not get too excited and the worry is driving me mad!! Xemergency fund:£179/ £1000 Uniform/car fund:£

Waiting for info from the estate agent so I submit my help to buy application. Hopefully this will be sent off today then once that's sorted the mortgage can be applied for.
