How long before I receive deferred SP?

Was your tax code adjusted from the date you wished to start the pension and was it to take into account just the SP or SP+deferral value, or even in 2 stages?
Two stages:
- first adjustment to tax code (dated 1-May, received 7-May) included only the basic State Pension plus GRP.
- second adjustment to include the extra pension from deferment, dated 19-June and received 23-June.0 -

Cheers. Just shows how ridiculous their system is, they could easily simplify it if they just did what we all think is logical and pay the total amount on the day we wish to start.0 -
I rang them yesterday and asked if the whole payment could be paid if given enough notice.
The answer no because they are two different departments.
Crazy but thanks to this thread I now know....before I thought it was a simple procedure...ring them to claim say I would like the deferred amount as enhanced pension....money in bank account.
Not that simple!0 -

Good that we now know for sure and "two different departments" says it all!0 -
As the OP, I'd like to thank everyone for their input on this thread as I now understand the 15 working days' timescale for the 'choices' letter to be issued is complete fiction.
Predictably, the 24th has now passed and no 'choices' letter has materialised.
Could anyone give some sort of estimate as to when I might realistically receive it, i.e, before I get really worried?0 -
Give them a call I got through at 8am straight away.
This information should on the deferring your state pension section online.
Thanks to all for the input0 -
Sorry, guys, but as the OP I really need to vent!
Predictably, the 24 June came and went and no Choices letter appeared. Since then I've been chasing on a weekly basis and seem to get the same stock answer "Really sorry, blah, blah, 15 days, blah, backlog, blah, different department, will email them. Ring again next week if you haven't heard...blah, blah.."
Just phoned again and this time was told to ring the Pensions Claim Line (0800 731 7898) and ask them to check if the letter had been sent. Of course it hadn't and now I've been told ring again on 18 July.
Thanks to Wolv's very informative post, I realise my situation isn't unusual, but it's still very frustrating.
I know we're in the middle of a Brexit crisis, but we weren't when I made the original claim. The whole thing is a shambles. It's just as well I'm not boracic . God help anyone who's planned for, and is relying upon prompt payment, of their deferred pension.
Wolv, if you're still around, please can you advise the address to which I should be sending a snail-mail complaint letter if I don't get the Choices letter by 18 July?

How that term takes me back! I can still hear my dear dad's voice using the same term (probably after pleas in my student days....).:)

Just been browsing this thread and see that DWP are issuing estimates of extra SP based on when you reach SP age (Wolv) I had been receiving SP for 7 years when I deferred (De retired in DWP speak)
On that basis any estimate of my deferral would be meaningless. Is there any way I can get an estimate based on my SP at deferral?I am not a cat (But my friend is)0 -
not sure if this point been raised, but say you apply for your deferred pension in one tax year and because of all the delays the extra pension due is not paid to you until the following tax year does this affect your tax code. I am thinking of claiming my 5year deferred payment in April 2017, but maybe I could claim just my normal pension in March 2017 (2016/17 tax year) and the extra will fall in 2017/18) is this correct0
