Thanks Wendz and CMD
I'm just glad we've been savers these last few months rather than splashing on the house/paying directly to the loan. Given us a cushion!
Hope everything goes well with Evie and her diagnosis. Nothing fills me with dread more than hospital appointments with Oscar, I remember the day he was admitted last year I was physically shaking the whole way to the childrens ward. I'm such a wimp of a motherLovely to see you posting again!
Had £15 come into OH's paypal yesterday from recycling my broken GHDs, and £20 through the post in high street vouchers. Very tempted to do a freezer shop with them at Iceland just so we definitely have food in as well as helping the freezer run more efficiently. I'm trying to be postive and pro-active for OH's sake but I've cried twice on the way to work now0 -
Oh no, lots of bad news
Hope you're doing ok CMD, hope a diagnosis gives you a way to move forward, sounds very challenging x
So sorry about your DHs redundancy Cinny, seems that's a lot of that around at the momentsounds like you've got a good plan but I don't blame you for being emotional x
Glad you're feeling better Dinah, flu sounds the worst
Back to work, very part time, for me this week after my accident. I'm shattered!

Thanks Archers. So sorry to hear about your accident. I can nearly feel the pain and tiredness in your post
Yes - the not knowing is challenging. I think when we get a proper diagnosis and rule other things out we can move forward and really start to help her. It's great having Max a year ahead in school because I was able to pinpoint that she wasn't as far forward with her writing and reading as she should be. Everything just seems to take so long here but I'm trying to be patient.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Fingers crossed you can use this weekend to relax ready for next week Archer. Did you manage to get things cleared up with the holiday hospital bill?
Hopefully the assessment next week gives you something concrete to go on for her, CMD
Picked up some leaflets from the library for free Christmas activities to do with Oscar, so I feel a bit less bleak on that front. Was also sent home from my grandparents with a tin of ham and a loaf of bread after telling them the news :rotfl:0 -
Sounds like you are going through a tough time CMD. Hopefully you will get some answers and more ways to help Evie.
Hope you are taking it as easy as you can Archers.
Hope everyone had a good weekend? I managed to get some stuff done as Ex had kids overnight fri to sat and took them out Sunday too so feeling a bit more on top of housework. Did have to buy a new hoover as mine packed in and they have discontinued the spare part I needed.
I've got the day off today to do some Christmas shopping so hoping to get most of it done.0 -
Sounds like a productive weekend, Wendz
ours was quiet, OH had Friday and today off but used it to work on his CV and apply for jobs. But things look positive! He's got 2 interviews and one email of interest so far.
Oscars heater came and I've used the last of our amazon vouchers to fill in the gaps present wise. Also sold some more of Oscars old things for £20 which I put straight into the bank. I've got £450 to one side now but OH and I have been talking about taking up matches better again if no work shows up before Christmas so we can use that as a starter pot I guess!0 -
Sorry to hear about all the troubles.
I had a good weekend, mini Kavics stayed with my parents and I had a romantic weekend away. Went to Budapest to see the Xmas market and also went hiking. It was really amazing and I feel really happy. I introduced him to my parents and he introduced me to his so all is going well the right direction.
I sold a couple of things as well and nearly finished Xmas shopping. Only bits and pieces are missing.
Mini Kavics turned 5 yesterday, I can't actually believe that she is so big now. So clever and funny and beautiful. I am mega proud of her.0 -
Sorry to hear about OH's job Cinny but you've always been incredibly resourceful and able to plan well so hopefully you'll ride this one out better than most until something else comes up.
We've accepted we can't pay off our debts from our current position, we've started to be unable to make minimum payments on everything. We've asked our mortgage advisor if we can extend the mortgage, if not then we'll be looking at a DMP or an IVA.
Slowly getting better from flu but it's taken it's time, left me with a kidney infection chaser just to ensure I didn't feel up to much for an extra week.
Got a long letter through from ex friend, I didn't read it, asked NIM to delete it, he skim read it, says she's made up her own truth basically, that I'm jealous (genuinely can't think what of?! Apart from financial solvency which he has but not her, and I can't say I'd trade being massively in debt for being financially abused, but at this point in time I'm very happy with our life apart from the money mess), that NIM is just as bad (he has never once struck our kids, he hasn't even raised his voice to them in about 3 years except in a 'STOP THAT's A ROAD!' type manner), that everyone knows I lied (friends who know have said they'd seen glimpses but not as much as us, that he has always given them the creeps, that they avoid going to the house if he might be there, that they've tried going around and having heard his yelling from the bottom of the drive have left again, certainly nothing to suggest they don't believe and even if they don't, honestly that's not my concern). I'm glad of my decision not to read it, I'm glad she's found closure in whatever way she needed to but that's not going to be at my expense, a couple of friends have come to me and said she doesn't seem to be taking care of herself, has come off her meds again and is hard to hold a conversation with, appears to be reinforcing some awful food messages with the kids that mummy is fat and shouldn't be allowed to eat and the kids have to tell her not to, all of which is very worrying for them, but it's not my circus and not my monkeys anymore and frankly I'd rather not hear anymore about it.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Oh that old friend sounds like she's in with it as bad as the kids are. Talk about delusional
It's terrible she can't shake herself for the sake of her kids, but you've done the right thing and with everything that's on your plate I don't blame you for putting it behind you.
And thank you Dinah, it means a lot! We had some brilliant news that with OH's long weekend his work realised how much he actually does (I think with him being home based they probably thought he spent most of his time sat in his PJ's watching day time telly ) and how quickly things fell apart and nose dived without OH keeping a hand on things! He had call this morning to say he's not losing his job after all. Whole thing is an absolute farce! But I'm very thankful we don't need to worry over the holiday period and should be able to have a fun day out or too - will say the whole thing has shook us a little as to how close to penniless we'd be without OH's wage with our current money situation. Determined to keep it reigned in over Christmas and get this loan paid off ASAP.
So sorry to hear you're headed towards the DMP or IVA route. At least this way it'll all be taken care of in a sense without you needing to juggle a hundred different things at once. When will you hear back from the bank?
I can't believe that little baby I saw in a pub in London is 5! You've done such an amazing job, KavicsYou should be more than proud, if there even is such a thing!
