Hope everything is going a bit smoother your way, Dinah!

Had a pushchair abandoned outside our office over the weekend, managed to track down it's owner (they left a Doctors letter inside it ) so I'm going to swing by with it on my way home and see if they want it/it was stolen from them. If not I'm going to clean it up and donate it to a women's refuge. It's £300 worth of pram though, I don't understand why you'd just dump that?!

Made a sale on Gumtree which is getting collected tonight so that's £10 in the December pot for our trips out. I'm SO excited for December, we've got a lot planned though so I'll probably regret it by the second weekend :rotfl:

Hope things have improved too Dinah.

I'm excited about December too, got panto and santa visit booked.

I know! I dropped a note through the door as no one's home so hopefully I'll get a call / text this evening about it. But it's a Chicco Activ3, it's a beast! The seat looks like it could comfortably sit a 7 year old.

Booking Santa was on my to-do list for this week until Oscar's reaction to a "nice family evening out" for fireworks. Think we're holding Santa off for another year :o We're going to a stately home we're members of who are having the set designers from Victoria set up the place for Christmas which'll be fun!

Haha Heidi loved santa when she was 6 months, 18 months not so much... hoping this year is more successful. Got to persuade her to wear snow boots and a hat as well which should be fun. Hopefully she will want to if Poppy is doing it.
The stately home sounds really nice, bet it will be so christmassy.

Hi all, sorry for vanishing again. Flu. And real flu at that. The kind where I only left my bed for the loo for a week, had to cancel all my work, tried to take Ben to nursery one day and blacked out so NIM then had to take 4 days off work too to take care of the kids.

Heard no more re former friends, social services and legal action.

Very behind on life admin, work stuff, house stuff etc with spending a week in bed. Still feeling staggeringly weak but improving slowly.

Car cost £420, which now means we've not had enough to pay other bills. Most of our cards are bearing interest now to the tune of around £450 a month, we need to find a way to change things because we're making no headway despite working very hard.

Broke my phone. Thankfully it has insurance as it was only £4 a month and having had to pay £160 x4 each time I broke the screen on the old one £4 a month seemed a safe bet on the new one. I broke the first screen 3 days after I got the new phone, this is now the second screen (and I've broken the back) so working out well for me. Maybe not so well for my phone.

Many, many Christmas events planned here, Grace and Ben are insanely excited about Christmas this year, and I need stuff to be looking forward to after this year. We're also up at Luminere this weekend in Durham which always sorts of kicks off the Christmas season in my head.

Sorry to hear you haven't been well Dinah, real flu is awful.

Hopefully soon you can come up with a plan about money if you aren't getting anywhere. Is very hard when all these unexpected costs come up.

I ended up getting a new phone at the weekend as mine packed in, a few weeks after i dropped it and smashed the back in a bit.. had to pay £30 off my last contract and new contract is about £10 more a month but get a lot more data etc.

Have added to my signature money i got from survey sites. Got the day off work Monday to do some Christmas shopping.

Oh dear, the last thing you needed right now was the flu but I'm not surprised - the stress you're under is bound to wreck your immune system :( Glad you're feeling better!

Bad news our way as OH is being made redundant at the start of next month. We have some savings so we'll be okay for a while, I'm just hoping he gets a decent redundancy package to beef it up a little and see us through. He's applied for 10 jobs in his field so far but after Christmas will probably need to spread his search a little.

So we've stripped everything back now. Cancelled our little holiday in December, everything through December that wasn't free has been cut. Decided no gifts for each other but thankfully we've already bought Oscars + Family gifts. Basically only spending money on bills, food and fuel until he's secured another job.

Ordered a small oil heater for Oscar's room so we can cut back on the hours our heating is on, used some of our amazon vouchers so didn't really cost anything (Should have been £22.60 but amazon keep knocking random £5's off my orders?!)

Oh no Cinny i'm sorry to hear that. I hope he finds something soon. Sounds like good plans to keep the spends low.
  • Hi all,

Sorry I've been AWOL for a while. I've had a lot going on personally and also with Evie. She's been through an OT assessment and it's looking like she may have DCD/Dyspraxia and SPD. No formal diagnosis yet. We are going to another assessment next week (privately) to rule out ADHD and Aspergers. I have concerns about ADHD and to a lesser extent, Aspergers.

Dinah - such an anxious time for you both for Grace. Great to hear you are pulling together as a family after you are/have been through. The reporting sounds like a nightmare but you are absolutely correct in what you have done. Hope you have recovered from the flu.

Cinny - I am so sorry to hear about your OH's redundancy. Sounds like you are well prepared in terms of cutting back and fingers crossed he gets something very soon.

Kavics - delighted to hear your dating is going well. He sounds lovely.

Zig - lovely to see you back :)
