OH insists on basic ranges of apple and orange juice, he says they are fine and always looks for the cheapest.

I've never had a problem with the labels and yes you do have to buy carrier bags but most of us oldstylers have reusable ones anyway :D

Lidl is basic, it's never claimed to be anything else but the quality of the food is exceptional and the prices are very good.
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

    F U Fund currently at £250
  • Lidl stuff isnt necessarily foreign, its just not familiar packaging, but thats only the first couple of time ofcourse, after that it is familiar as anyones elses.
You can buy carrier bags but in germany most people seem to pack their shopping directly into crates in the trolley & then lift it the car boot. Works fine & doesnt waste bags ( dont think they have carrier bags in germany - they are a lotter hotter on envirnometal issues than we are).
Our Lidl is really nice, not at all grotty, just cheaper. Its not grimey & badly run like the local netto (even i draw the line there)
....another happy bug.........sorry,blogger embracing the simple life
  • Here are some of my fav products from Lidl:

Fruit and Nut chocolate 200g about 54p great value and nicer than Cadburys IMHO
Dark Chocolate 74% think it's 49p - mum loves this too as it's good for you!
Sweetcure bacon - never come across a salty packet
Twin pack of Mozzarella pizzas 1.89 - my teenager loves these
Red and Green pesto sauce - he loves this on pasta too
Porridge - Very tasty tho' you have to be a porridge person
Luxury Oat Muesli - my kids would eat this at one sitting if allowed!
    Cranberry sauce
    Parmesan cheese
Frozen Marinated Chicken portions 2.99 (I think) - especially delicious - can be cooked from frozen - really moist and tasty - although doesn't come with a sauce which I originally thought something marinated would have?

Fruit and veg especially good value when they are doing 1/2 price offers!

I'm sure there's more but can't think at the mo.

Every bit of stock was foreign (so no idea what stuff is made of - calorie, salt, fat content etc)
    personally I love this - it's so liberating!!!:p

I don't know if they do it but aldi used to have a tear-and-share chocolate brioche loaf that was incredible!
    2015 comp wins - £370.25
Recent wins: gym class, baby stuff
Thanks to everyone who posts freebies and comps! :j

Q_C they are suerfast in Lidl's but I've found them all to be very nice next time you go ask them to go just alittle slower for you then chuck everything into the trolley

they have to go fast, they have a target of so many items to scan an hour, the target is set by the hierarchy

lots of votes for Lidl biscuits and jam . i used to work at the main distrubtion warehouse for 7 years so heres the why.

    Jams made by Hartleys !!!
    Biscuits made by McVities !!!

and they are pretty good for the money i agree.

off the lidl track my top tips are.

Sommerfield own brand SALAD CREAM beats the pants of anything anywhere. absolute nuts for sandwiches and big salads

Morrisons wood based CAT LITTER and Morrisons FRUIT SPLIT LOLLIES

    ;);)
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:
