Flight rescheduled 1hr layover to 9 hour layover - HELP!

Hi, I would really appreciate any advice...

I have booked a flight through STA travel on Qatar airlines. Flying form Manchester to Bali with a stop over in Doha. When I originally booked this flight we had a 1hr 30 layover in Doha. Which is the reason I selected this flight and paid extra money.

It is now 9 weeks until we travel and STA have contacted us via email to say out flights have changed and we now have a 9 hour layover because our flight from Manchester is earlier (total flight time has gone from 18hrs to 27hr approx). STA have not offered an alternative, simply sent an email informing us. I understand this is in the 'small print' as I've discovered from internet research but surely I have some options or I'm due some compensation.

To top it off we booked a lounge pass at manchester airport for our original flight times which we will now loose out on because it was non refundable or transferable.

PLEASE HELP!

If you are unable to depart earlier you need to speak to STA and ask about the alternatives. Probably worth checking on the Qatar site to see what they have as options for your dates. If not suitable the other option is to push for a refund but booking alternate flights may cost you more in the end

what date are you travelling?

Thank you for replying. I fly out on August 13th - rescheduled flight is now 9am.

Qatar website shows an option to depart MAN 22:05 on QR26 connecting onto QR960 @ 08:00 (1 hour and 5 min connection in DOH) arriving DPS at 23:15 on the 14th
If that suits better than the current option, then ask STA to request that rebooking from Qatar

I was stuck in Dubai for hours with Emirates & we got the free meal (not that you need it the way they feed you), but missed out on the free hotel as I needed to book in advance.

had similar problem with Etihad although they provided meal vouchers and free hotel as it was a 12hr delay

A few years ago we had a stopover of around 5 hours. It was a scheduled one. We got meal vouchers from Qatar airways I believe it was breakfast ones. There was a lounge in Doha airport where you can lie down. I believe this was free too. We didn't dare going in as we had a half asleep 4 year old with us and didn't think it was fair to other resting passengers.

I don't even know why STA would have the gall to write to you without offering a suitable alternative. Why they didn't suggest the later flight is beyond me.

I flew Qatar to Jakarta about three years ago and had about a 90 minute stop over in Doha. This was enough time but there was a change of airports which required a 20 minute or so trip on a motorway.

Things may well have changed since then but I'd be a little concerned with a 65 minute stop over if this flight also needed the airport change.
