Sat 11th/Sun 12th June - What Small Debt Free Wannabe things will you do today?

Options
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Morning all - thanks for the start Legomum...
I'm pleased to report a really good night of sleep last night, so I'm ready to dedicate most of the day ahead to my exam marking. I have a few other things to do but most of it will be that. It's pretty grey and miserable here but a bit cooler than it has been recently. Rather typical that the nice weather does one for the weekend when I'm not at work.
    Here's today's list
    :p check banking and PAD
    :p get ds to gymnastics
:p collect shopping from Mr T
:p dd's end of cheer season party tonight
:p crochet while I'm doing the kids stuff
:p exam marking when I'm not
    :p hoover through
    :p do the washing
:p meal plan and prep for next week
:p get the kids and dh to do the rest of the housework
:p send a really important email about next batch of exam marking
:p eat a frog that's been hanging around for a couple of weeks
Hope everyone is ok - lots of love to all of you :D

    Hi everyone

Thanks for the kick off lego mum :)
    CCL - I like that phrase! :D

I'm trying to keep up with the small things as usual - just been busy with work and on my lunches so not been posting. Have been scanning through the thread on my phone though. Hope everyone has a good weekend. :)

Have got a bit of an expensive time coming up - holiday, weekend away and booking concert tickets - so penny planning everywhere else is a must!

Got a letter from student loans to say I can pay the remaining instalments by direct debit. Tempted to as my bonus will mean I'll pay around £600 in July otherwise but then part of me thinks I should just leave it for now as then it will get cleared quicker... Hmmm...

Spending most (if not all...) of the day at home. Cleaning and tidying, watching net flix, HM meals from stores, drinking the booze in the cupboard, earlyish night... Boring really but how I like it best :) I am a home bird :)

    Afternoon all :)
Dull and rainy here today, but hot as well :(
Still not feeling great, so decided to compound it by getting mine and OH's income tax paperwork ready for the accountant / HMRC :rotfl:
Unsurprisingly, I haven't done much else, but this is very MSE, as by doing the bulk of it, it means the accountant only charges £40 each instead of £loads if I just presented her with a carrier bag full of receipts and other clobber

Lost the will to live now though, so I will need to finish this off tomorrow :(

    Other things:
Listed a few more bits on ebay, which is doing loads better than my sales unit at the moment
    Did a Yougov survey
Got salmon out of the freezer for dinner
    Picked a few strawberries :)
    Not spent anything :D
Harvested HG garlic and used some with tonight's salmon :)

Hope everyone is having a good day :)

PS, Legomum and DNMS, I personally don't have trouble with lettuces, but I have heard they can be temperamental :( You could do what I do when I don't have room to grow conventional lettuces though (I only have a little garden), which is to buy a pack of living lettuce from Lidl or somewhere (most of the supermarkets sell them), give it a haircut to provide a bag of salad leaves (wash them and put in a plastic bag in the fridge to crisp up), and then divide the plants up and plant them in a couple of those plastic troughs full of general purpose compost - or in your garden if you have space. Don't cut them down too low, and they will soon shoot up again with more salad leaves :D I keep mine on a plant stand thing on the patio, where the slugs don't seem to get to.

I havent been on MSE for a long time but am trying to be a bit more frugal and get my few small debts under control

    Today Ive done:
    * a YOUGov survey
    * earned 15 Bounts points through exercise
    * planned our meals for next week and shopped within my budget
    * cooked a curry from scratch
    * put some clothes/shoes/bedding on Gumtree and local Facebook page

    Hoping the little things help

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Hi All

My favourite small thing today was seling another toy on ebay. Dawn thanks so much for your tip on selling at a set price instead of at auction. I have had an offer on one item and sold another at full price this week. So thats an extra £22 this week plus decluttering 2 large toys (Teksta puppy & the Thundertank)

    Great to read everyones news.

    Afternoon

Lego Mum Thank you for starting us off this morning.

Crazy cat Pleased to hear you have had a decent nights sleep, I find it makes all the difference to my ability to achieve.

La E Most of our weekend is being spent at home eating from stores, entertainment from books, board games, TV and online, bliss :D

DNMS I am envious of your gardening achievements this year, I haven't managed to plant anything and even those ears I do it is all guess work.

Our weather has been very much like Dawn's cloudy, wet and hot. Absolutely useless for drying washing.

Bob congratulations on your sales this week.

As well as all the normal things today I have been battling with our temperamental printer  (well it is more likely to be the communication or lack between the printer and the computer) I have lost count of the times it has all thrown a hissy fit today. I am attempting to print out a Maths unit (not the next unit the one after) for ds' Maths education, the curriculum is working well for us and ds is excelling and I am remember some stuff and learning some new bits which helps to keep my brain agile. I need to be a few days a head so I can plan the lessons so they are suitable to ds' abilities (Year 7 maths, top level plus extension, ds very comfortable) and our situation (class of 1 pupil :rotfl:the odd activity would use the whole class to illustrate a concept like Venn diagrams, we just use different manipulatives and adjust the questions accordingly).

OH & dd are planning on staying up tonight to watch England's match, I have no interest, so I'll either play around on the computer doing an combination of catching up on here, doing some much needed admin, surfing around.

We have done some work in the rain on our garden today, the grass needs cutting but it much too wet :(

This week has been very busy where I haven't managed to keep up (something to look forward tonight :)) we have had one of those weeks where we have slept at home and meals have been prepared at home but not home for much else, which just leads to chaos.
