Turkey Hol - evisa & currency

Hi,
going to Turkey for the first time August. I've just applied for evisa for myself and hubby. I left the parents names blank, I was thinking too much into it and realised because of death, divorce and other reasons that our parents names are not the same as ours and that might cause complications on entry. As it said it was an optional field, I just left them blank. Of course, now I am worrying that will look suspicious and am not worrying about leaving them blank!! Has anyone else done this or can advise?
Also currency, what should I take? I'm not too worried about making a little saving here, would rather take the currency with me. We're all inclusive so I cant see us spending much apart from a few pressies at the markets but whats the easiest currency to take?
Thanks!

Hiya Cookiepops
I can only advise on the currency part and that is to change a small amount of pounds into lira for you to get by for the 1st day, but bring your english money out there and change your money over in Turkey, you will always get the best rate out there.
Alot of places take £1's and alot of shops will advertise the price in £1's & lira...
I am going myself in August - you will have a great time.0 -

theres no point taking euros to Turkey if you are resident in the UK - because then you'll be getting charged to change your money from sterling to euros before you leave the UK, and then you'll get a currency conversion charge somewhere in your transactions in Turkey too (as their currency is lira).
Depending on where you are going in Turkey, you may see prices in shops etc in lira and euros, or lira and sterling, but it doesn't really matter, especially in souvenir shops, they will give you a sterling price too (always handy to work it out yourself on your phone first though, to make sure they're not giving you a really rubbish sterling conversion rate to the lira).0 -

you're not going to get asked any questions about what you put on your e-visa, its either granted or its not, if its granted you just print off the reference number and put it with your passport. And that will be all thats required when you go through passport control at the airport in Turkey.0 -
Hi cookiepops, your e-visa should be fine, I never put parents names on my application. Take a small amount of Lira, say £50 TO £100. Best rates are always to be had in resort, last year 4.50TL to the pound was not uncommon. August is a very ,very hot month in Turkey so use sunscreen regular and drink lots of water. You have not said what part of Turkey you are visiting.?0

phew thats good to know. All other details obviously tally with the passport so I did think they are just checking I am who I say I am by checking the via with passport.:heart2: Cookiepops :heart2:0 -

Hi, great advice thanks. We are staying in by Manavgat near Side. Do you have any experience of that area?:heart2: Cookiepops :heart2:0 -

you will definitely see prices in lira and euros in the Side area - the beaches and the sea in that area are fabulous - and it will be hotter than the sun in August

If anyone suggests taking €uros then ignore them.
Your e-visa reference number will get fed into the system, and you shouldn't need a paper copy when you go through Immigration at the airport. But in the unlikely event of a computer failure that paper copy might come in handy.
Have a good holiday, but do a bit of homework beforehand, particularly regarding the culture, scams, and annoyances.0 -
Just seen that you're in the Side/Manavgat area. Can be a bit remote as it's a long stretch of beach, but if your hotel is on a bus [dolmus] route you'll be alright.
It's a popular area with continental Europeans, which is why you'll see most prices in €uros, but don't take any notice. And in any case you'll get your change in Turkish Lira.0
