To be honest this just sounds like a MGIF trying so hard to get past the cyclist and not actually processing what is going on.
I saw one the other day, driver overtakes cyclist and nearly ploughs into the back of the car ahead (which had stopped in traffic).“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

The helmet cam should show a lot of evidence. If you were fully in the other lane, it would have meant the biker went into your Lane without looking and this would be on the helmet cam.0

Except it happened in a residential area at 30mph so most likely it was a two way road and not a dual carriageway. Therefore the driver was in the oncoming traffic lane to merely overtake then return to the left rather than moving into the fast lane of a dual carriageway.0 -

Who mentioned anything about a dual carriageway?
The oncoming lane is still a lane and it's quite common for people to use it when overtaking. All your base are belong to us.0 -

Where I come from the "fast lane" is a common colloquialism for lane 2 which people use to overtake and by design go faster than other cars. Therefore the fast lane.0 -

Ah you mean the overtaking lane which you wouldn't need if the car on the left was travelling at the speed limit.0 -
