I just ask them to hold on while I get the computer and put it on. I keep them waiting, then block that last number and report the call.

I have further edited my post to reflect the diversity, tolerance and correctness of the society we live in.
Meanwhile elsewhere in the land, I see the pathway to my house cobbled with pleasant roses!

I fail to see how anyone's ethnicity is relevant in this situation, even yours.

I said she was a lady. Because I am unsure of her gender, I have retracted my post.

Next time I will just put the phone down. If they then ring you and take you for a ride, don't blame me!

Not so much ethnicity, but from where she is ringing. That's the relevance, which I believe you can see, but are being obtuse.

No one is insulting her because of her gender or ethnicity, but because she is attempting a fraud.

Someone with a German accent would probably not be used by this fraudulent group, whosoever they may be.

As I said, her accent places her in the right place. Therefore, her ethnicity is relevant.

It is well known that the majority of these calls come from the Indian subcontinent, if someone calls and says with a thick accent 'hello my name is David and I am calling about...' it is the first sign that they are about to try to scam you. This is why it is relevant to mention the caller's apparent ethnicity.
