You have an independent witness which will strengthen your case. Get her to write a statement (only facts, not opinion) and forward this to Trading Standards.0

Contact the council who made him a trusted trader and ask them to come and inspect the work. Does the council have a mediation service for traders they recommend?
A total waste of time, and so is enlisting anyone from that or similar sites, they simply pay a fee and get free advertising, until someone finally gets a county court judgement against, others having been screwed to the deckI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

No, this is a council run scheme (not a Rated People, Checkatrade type scheme) and they will have mediation service which the trader will have agreed to use when he signed up.0 -

Sorry, missed that bit but it just emphasises my point, don't trust anyone who enlists websites even if council approved, to get them work.
He passed council muster and the work is still defective?, says it all really.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Yes, unfortunately the council aren't qualified to check their ability to do the work they claim they can do. All they seem to check is their Ts&Cs and that they haven't had any complaints against them.
But the council should sort this out - that it the whole point of these schemes.0 -
This is from my local Herts Trusted Trader scheme info:
http://www.hertsdirect.org/business/tradingstandards/fgthome/
We cannot promise that an endorsed trader’s work will be perfect every time, but you can expect any problems to be dealt with fairly by the business. Plus any business who fails to comply with the code of conduct can be suspended or removed and if something does go wrong, consumers also have the reassurance of an independent Alternative Dispute Resolution service.
There should be some type of ADR or mediation scheme to resolve the problem if you can't get a refund via chargeback.0 -
Received another email from west Lothian trading standards. They can only remind him of the terms and conditions, and that's it, I appreciate she's trying to help, but she doesn't really have any power tbh.
It's then up to me to take him to small claims. *sigh*0 -
