I think I'm just lacking in patience Hairy hand. I want it done now. I've spent so long on it I feel that it's never going to end. I'm getting better with letting go of sentimental stuff though which is good. Tonight I'm going to get all the dry washing put away and also clear off my dressing table which has been clutter since the knocked draw sort out.

My sitting room isn't too bad except for general day to day untidiness which is cleared up quickly. The one thing to let it down is the fireplace and fire. They are both 60s specials and the fire is not used as it couldn't possibly be safe now. I may start searching for new ones and possibly get it sorted once the other things are repaired. It would be nice to be done before winter.

Its slowly coking together and will be done. I think I just needed to realise that even though it would be nice to get the debts paid off, I can't let the house fall apart while doing so.

Work tomorrow then an evening of decluttering.

Have a good evening all. X

It does make a huge difference to how you feel if your environment is calm and uncluttered (says the person trying to get organised for three different trips, with suitcases, piles of clothes for packing and piles of laundry for putting away all over the place!).

I find my office a difficult place to work in as it's often cluttered as it's too small for everything I need to work - but I don't want to put all those screens anywhere else! I need to have a rethink at some point. To be fair, I don't actually work from home that often at the moment!

And no, you can't let the house fall apart - you need to priortise as things come up. I'm sure you'll clear the debt more easily if you can focus at home because it's a nice environment to be in and less stressful as a result.

Great news about the repairs getting done PH :j :j :beer:And agree that at the moment the repairs to the house come before paying off debt. I think it will make a massive difference to how you feel generally, and make the decluttering feel as though you are getting somewhere.
    You're doing fantastically well. (((hugs))))

Too true crystal. No matter how much sorting and decluttering I do it still looks carp with broken stuff around. I've done a bit more tonight and will make sure that the kitchen is sorted before taking DS to bed.

I wonder how much can be achieved before half term next week.

Oh Greenbee, packing. It's enough to bring me out in a cold sweat.

Last night I achieved a lot. I have been birthday shopping for DS today so no more decluttering yet. I will put away today's washing later and try and get rid of more stuff. I'm going to book a br1tish gas visit for next week so I have to get stuff done. They can't come in the way it is now.

I have done a little bit of gardening today and may do some more later. It's so nice outside.

Anyway I must get on before the school run. Oh the glamour, I shall empty the bin.

  • Is it weird that I'm looking forward to half term so that I can carry on de-cluttering :rotfl:.

I'm sure that your de-cluttering is making a difference and it does have a positive effect upon the mood I find, not to mention helping you to find things you've lost :).

It would have a positive effect if it looks more decluttered Hairy hand, but it doesn't.

Actually it looks worse today as I've been and purchased a new kitchen sink unit and sink. I just need to get a new piece of worktop so I can get it put in. Actually it was a bargain. A basic w1ckes base which was £64, new sink and a tap for £50. The sink was end of line. It should have been £250. :money: but . Why pay that much just to wash up:eek:. She threw in an ex display tap for £10. I chose one which was marked at £149.:eek::eek::money:

I need to just get it put in now and buy and install a new bathroom sink vanity unit too.

Anyway time for DS's bath in a minute and trying to clear up all the boxes he has scattered around the sitting room.

Hope you are all good. X

Last night was productive. A bit of decluttering in the bathroom while DS was having a bath. I love it when it happens unplanned.

The first of the two roofers have been this afternoon. The second is coming tomorrow. It's been such a long time coming that I'm feeling so excited.

I think being back at work is suiting me as I'm having to be more organised. Even though I have so much to do in the house I feel like everything is moving in the right direction.

I'm having a bit of a break this afternoon the I want to get on again.

As usual it's all or nothing with me. My first quote has come in at just under £600. I need to see what tomorrow's quote is before I decide.

I'm still longing after going into a kitchen showroom yesterday. It was a family business and real craftsmanship, utterly gorgeous stuff. Oh how I would love a new kitchen. I guess I will just keep dreaming.

Money and budgeting have slipped hugely recently. I guess being on SSP and then no wages does that. I really need to start getting back into budgeting and planning for home improvements and debt repayments.

I really also need to start prettying up home for little or no money. Back to skip diving and charity shops I think.

A bit of a waffle I'm afraid but my head is all over the place. I think I'm going for a tidy and mini decluttering session upstairs. You never know it may help.

    Good night all.

  • Your new kitchen sink and tap were such a bargain, well done :T.

I'm glad being back at work is doing you some good :).

I hope the second roof quote is cheaper.
