WARNING: EasyJet methods now the same as RyanAir

Easyjet's ONE PIECE of hand baggage rule is very clear on their website.
Easyjets's ONE PIECE of hand baggage rule is very clearly printed on every passengers boarding card.
Easyjet's ONE PIECE of hand baggage rule is very clearly displayed at each and every departure airport that I have flown from in the form of large orange signs and a sizing gage for hand baggage both at check in and just before the gate. All this came as a complete surprise to me.
How exactly is that then?
You have clearly chanced your luck for years and this time not got away with flouting the rules regarding their cabin baggage allowance. Likening the gate staff to highwaymen is out of order and I hope that you were not rude to them when they told you of the well publicised rule and asked that you comply.
If you want to carry that extra bag on to the plane then either pay for Speedy Boarding and/or the qualifying fare, or combine your luggage into ONE PIECE through the gate and remove the second bag as you board.
Your post incorrectly highlights fault and blame. Look in the mirror.0 -
I was not the only person forced into this situation, so it seems to be EasyJet's policy now and not a rogue customer service representative.
Good, passengers trying to take onboard more than their allowance is a constant nuisance these days. EasyJet has an extremely generous handbaggage allowance, if you can't adhere to it it's your own problem.0 -
The level of strictness varies between airports and staff on duty. Some passengers try their luck and do manage to take more on board more than the rules permit. I've noticed that since Ryanair started allowing two pieces of hand luggage they've taken a very liberal approach. On the Ryanair flights Ive caught in recent months there has been no checking of baggage sizes/weight at the gate. Is Ryanair now the airline with the acceptable "attitude" and eastJet isn't?0

If the op had actually checked, Ryanair have been allowing a handbag along with the hand luggage for quite a few months now
Easyjet have always insisted on you putting your handbag into your hand luggage at boarding. Once boarded you just take it straight back out again0
