Bank accounts with ability to draw direct debits?

Hi guys,
I'm looking for a bank account that will let me pull money from another account by direct debit. Royal Bank of Scotland have introduced a new rule whereby you need two direct debits. My only two direct debits are tied up with Lloyds, so I'm looking for an account which will allow me to pull money from the Bank of Scotland account to this new account by Direct Debit.
I called Tesco and they do allow customers to do this. Is there any other accounts that allow you to set up direct debits from one account to another?
Any recommendations greatly appreciated!

@Yorkshireboy Just incase Tesco decide to reject me again! They rejected me 7 months ago for some reason. I've applied for the same product but no guarantees i'll get it so looking for a backup plan!0

@Yorkshireboy They did indeed. I complained to head office to get a reason, but got nothing. I told them I was boycotting them and haven't been to a Tesco store since they rejected me the scumbags! Not had a problem opening an account with any other bank before Tesco, or since!
I'm having a look at some of the providers on the list in the link you posted, but the bank account details seem to be thin. I can't find the terms and conditions/factsheets where it explicitly states you can set up a direct debit to take money from another account. Why do banks make this so hard to find!
Do you know whether any one account, besides Tesco's would let me set up 6 DD's? I need two each for my Bank of Scotland accounts. I am pretty sure Tesco allows at least 6, but can't find details on limits for the others in the link. Will keep googling, but would appreciate it if you could post the facts if you know them off the top of your head
Cheers!0 -
Am I correct in thinking Yorkshire Building Society allow multiple DD's being set up? It's in the link in post 2 but on their website, I can't find it in the T&C's.0

As it says in that link, Yorkshire BS only allow direct debit deposits to former EGG customers, not available to new customers, or for offset savings if you also have a mortgage with them. They don't allow direct debit deposits for any other accounts, so if you haven't got a former EGG account, or an offset mortgage, you can forget it.0 -
That list is a little out of date. There are some that still allow DD from linked accounts but other that that one you are boycotting, I know of no other that allows multiple linked accounts.0

https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5403055 Post 7Another helper for DDs is a GoCardless account, it is free, just sign up with your main account (First Direct in my case) then set up a DD using Go Cardless to take £1 from Club Lloyds. They charge 1% per DD so costs you 1p per month0

The system for Go Cardless is explained here post 10.

@xylophone Excellent post. Very helpful. Thank you.
I'll wait 5 days whilst Tesco decide whether to offer me the account, and if they don't, i'll use gocardless. Why didn't I find this earlier? Why isn't this on the main "Banking and Savings" page? Surely this is very relevant information especially since so many banks are asking for DD's these days!0 -

Did you mean a Tesco savings a/c. I have 2 Tesco bank a/c but they don't allow DDs as far as I can see, but I'd be VERY happy if someone enlightened me differently.Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0 -
@SevenOfNine, i'm pretty sure they do. Give them a call and ask. The chap told me quite a few of their accounts have this facility. The internet saver account has this facility and there isn't a limit as to the number of DD's you can set up. I asked the guy if I can set up 6, and he said I could.
Also as a last resort, gocardless.com seems like a good alternative if you can't get a Tesco account.0
