Post Office On Line Saver

Options
Hi,
I've recently opened a Post Office Online Saver 18 Ann account, I did this so that I could set up 2 DD's form my new Lloyds accounts, as each Lloyds account needs 2 DD I thought I'd do one to the Post office On Line Saver and the other to Tesco, I've just contacted the Post office and they say that I can't have 2 DD's for 2 separate accounts, is that right?

Thanks

Steve

    OP

The key information for this account refers to making deposits from 'your nominated account' (single), and 'changing your nominated account' (again, single).

But, perhaps even more importantly, have you read the multiple threads on here detailing problems people have had in actually accessing & withdrawing their money fro PO? :(
  • Whenever I see a thread about the Post Office saving accounts, I hear a little voice saying Avoid Avoid!

..post office are very good at taking your money but not very good at letting you have it back...although a "good" rate, (by current standards), after previous experiences I for one will not be using them anytime soon...truly appalling customer service...

My wife and I have five PO accounts with direct debits from various bank accounts, that have been changed a number times over the years.

I just wanted to say that we've never had any trouble withdrawing money.

    Curious!

Yes, but I want 2 constant DD's and it looks like that can't be done.Ill either have to open another account that allow DD's or donate to charity.

I have a Tesco account and that has DD's from the Lloyds, annoying that I can't do from the post office

Open another. They offer 2 different savings accounts;)
  • You could set up a GoCardless account. This allows you to be a 'DD receiver'. https://gocardless.com/

Basically set the account you want to receive money into as the Go Cardless account and then set a DD up to come out of the account you need the DD in.

Go Cardless is free to use/setup, no commitments. Their charge is 1% of any DD taken so set a DD up for £1 and it costs you 1p. You will have £1 taken out of your Lloyds account and 99p deposited into your account that you defined as the bank account for your Go Cardless account.

I use it on my Lloyds account, it takes £1 and deposits the '99p' into my First Direct account :) It may sound complex but it really is not and works well. You can use this for other accounts needing DDs too as there are no limits to the number you can set up.
  • Thanks for that, I did setup a Go Cardless account but got the accounts the wrong way around, decided to go for a Charity Instead
