If you can get a Nexus 10 (made by Samsung, for Google) on eBay for £100-£130 you would do well. They're by no means the fastest these days, they're no longer being updated, but they've got a great, great screen and surely perform better than lots of new tablets at that price.
If you can get a Nexus 9 for around £160 that would be good too, but I had some bad luck with one that I got for my dad, which is currently dead as a dodo after a few weeks' use.0
