Accepting viewings whilst under offer???

I rang a local EA to view a home and was told the house seller had literally just accepted an offer, however the buyer has been slow to produce the required paperwork so i was told i could still view the property?

Is this right? I'm asking because if i like it i wouldn't want to be messed around and would want it off the market asap.

Also is there any way could possible get an idea of what they accepted from the seller or EA?

    This screams estate agent games to me!

    They may tell you what they would accept but at the end of the day it's down the the seller who they sell too and what they accept.

    I personally wouldn't get involved unless it came back onto the market

  • Well i'm asking the sellers outright tonight what are they doing? If i get any idea they are messing me about i'm out.
  • Would i be wrong to ask the seller outright tonight what there bottom offer is and what they would take it off the market at?

    I would ask them, though as the seller is showing you a property they have already committed to someone else I would be very wary... choose a solicitor with no move in no fees just in case! :rotfl:

    How can they literally just have accepted an offer, yet the buyer has been slow to produce paperwork.


    How long did they give him? 5 minutes.

    Surely, there is a logical inconsistency here?

    Someone is pushing the boundaries of semantics.

    I'd take that to mean they have accepted the offer in principle, but the buyer hasn't produced evidence of funds. Perhaps they don't have a DIP in place and are still at the stage of seeing mortgage advisor and therefore can't be sure they can proceed.

    Chances are it'll work out for the first people, but just in case the EA is letting you have a look so if the first people are unable to fund it you could get a chance. It isn't necessarily a case of getting a higher offer, just using you as back up.

    But you might have the viewing and find you don't even want it anyway

    What if I do want it and want to make an offer, I have a mortgage agreed in principle and my home is exchanging in a few weeks.

    I'll find out more later and update the thread.
  • Dial down the drama or you'll alienate the seller.

    They're just looking for a further offer, it's no big deal at this very early stage.
    The current offerer and the seller have not yet agreed to take the house off the market. They may do in a few days but they haven't done it yet. The house is still up for grabs.
