Most Euros

I want Euros early next week and I want to get the most that I can for £800.00. I have a debit card, a Master card, a Clarity card, cheques and of course cash.

1. What payment method should I use from that list?
2. Which provider will give me most Euros for my money.
3. Should I collect (if possible) or have them delivered?

The exchange rate is of little consequence since I fly on June 9.

If you plan to spend them while in a country that uses them, you should wait until you are there and then use your Clarity card in a cash machine.

If you want to speculate on movements in the exchange rate, you can use a service like https://www.xe.com to do it all on-line with virtual money.

Having spoken to the bank earlier today, I got the impression that there would be a charge for using cash machines to withdraw on the Clarity Card.

The only charge may be from the ATM. Just use one that doesn't charge. There's certainly plenty of them. We never pay to withdraw euros on the Clarity.

Been on to bank earlier and the woman I spoke to confirmed that on all cash withdrawals from a cash machine using the Clarity card, there is a small charge. Not only that but knowing the dates of our holiday, she worked out that the cost of withdrawing for example, £100.00 on my Clarity card,would be £1.55.

Might be worth confirming where you are going to determine exact details but I've never been charged for withdrawing on a clarity.

Some ATMs will charge, so it might be worth checking what networks do and which don't, tripadvisor forums for your destination would be a good point to start.

It seems very common now for bank staff to give out wrong information which makes it difficult for people to know what to do.

It's not a charge as such. She's talking about the interest incurred when withdrawing cash using a credit card. It applies to all credit cards whether you're in the UK or abroad, and you've already said you're not trying to avoid paying interest.

That was my mistake. The £1.55 was interest and not a charge. Sorry for the confusion.

Eurochange seems to be about the best as far as I can see. I've just ordered £400.02 of Euros and they make no charge for delivery, I'm off end of the month so still have plenty of time. I went on the Post office site where they have a sale on at the moment but the reviews are dreadful.


Actually paid £402 for €510 with free weekday delivery, also saves app £2 using the VIP code on this Forum.

Yes, but that's assuming you withdraw money and don't pay it back for a whole month. For a typical two week holiday the charge would only be around half that, so circa 80p, with no additional charges or large buy/ sell spread, like any purchase it's the total cost that is of concern.
